Howard is capable of guarding the other teams best player. Griffin is unable to guard point guards so he wouldn't help that much. For example like Parker or Nash.
I see the point with the way we're playing now, but a week ago we had just come off of 3 strait losses, so lets not say we're playing great, the win over SA not withstanding.I think Griffin is vastly underrated by you guys, but Stack does provide more of a matchup problem for other teams...but guys your only thinking offensively. With Griffin and Diop starting, you got 2 defensive minded starters, you got 2 offensive minded starters with Dirk and Terry, and a combination in Howard. The makeup of that starting 5 is better as a whole than one with Stack, who'll give them a better offensive starting team.I really don't care who starts at SG, either guy is good there, but just don't lessen the impact that Griffin has had on the Mavs, and what he'll bring when he comes back.

No one is underrating Griff, but I don't see the rush in moving him into the starting line when were doing well and our defense has been good. When he returns, he gives us another defensive option and will get minutes.
If we can control the Clippers without too much Griffin, then we shouldn't play him too much, but if we make it to Phoenix or San Antonio, we need a defender like him.
Griffin's defense is getting overrated around here. He is more of a rebounder than a defender. He is strong but not as quick. Players with quick first steps can go by him.

I'm not putting Griffin in the defensive shut down specialist category, but he is a good defensive player, and we are better for it.I just think the guy is overlooked as a quality player.
Alrite, he's out of job for a year, suddenly gets signed out of nowhere, and has 14 points and 12 rebounds in his first game!
He is left open on purpose so that others will struggle more. He is not a threat at all except if left wide open.
Well don't discount that then, if the guy hits the open shot, because he's left open, than that's a valuable commodity.I mean if he was left open and missed that shot all the time, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.
But his made shots are in expense of other players getting tougher shots. It's not like he is a 3 point threat or anything so the spacing wouldn't be that good unlike Bruce Bowen.
What are you talking about man?If Griffin is left unguarded, he normally hits that open shot...I don't know what him not being a 3 point shooter has to do with it.I'm not saying he is the best SG we have or anything, but he is a valuable member of our team, and deserves whatever playing time he gets.
I'm just saying teams can double off him and still have time to recover from where he shoots the ball. If he was farther out it would be much harder to double off him. He has limited range.
That's the thing he used to be able to hit a 3 before, what happened to his range, he's settling for a lot of mid-range shots. I'm not saying he was a good 3 point shooter but he would take some before. Now it's not even a option for him.Oh well, I don't know what the debate is here, but all four swingman bring something to the table and it's a bonus that we have all four. Any three could start, and I see no dropoff, so what's the big deal who starts at 2.
That may be true, but it hasn't stopped him from hitting that open shot as his 48% shooting percentage can attest too.
