Kind of strange the Blazers haven't replaced these marketing dollars. I know a lot of people comment on the Vulcan's being all about the bottom dollar and this seems to be some easy cash they are missing out on.
It is not so much the money. Just seems like lots of guys on here blame the Vulcans or Jody for not going into the tax. If they are so worried about the bottom line it would seem they would have the income from the patch. I get a lot of companies cut their marketing budget, but there has to be someone out there. The fact they are not getting this income and I have no idea how much a company pays to have their logo on that patch, but the fact they have not filled that income stream makes me wonder just truly how much this " we need a new owner who will spend money" is really real, or just a fun theory with no merit.
OR They don't want to spend ANY money on this team and we need an owner that will. It's just that easy.
I sure don’t see it that way. In 2018 and 2019 under Jody Allen, the Blazers were Luxury Tax payers. In 2020 and 2021 they were just under the threshold, as they are again this year. Going forward, it’s almost certain that for the years of Dame’s remaining contract the Blazers will be tax payers. Given the penalties for repeaters, it would be monumentally stupid to spend more money and start the clock on that a year sooner than it has to. That’s not on Jody; it’s the way the CBA works.
Just giving a different perspective of how others may see it. I believe your way but there are others.
They are not spending money for the patch, a company is paying them money. Not sure why any owner who was supposedly so concerned about the bottom line would not be demanding this patch logo be filled. From what I could find it averages out to about 7.5 million a season per team. Can't see them skipping that 7.5 Million income if they are so worried about spending money.
