Oden did rebound very well against Hawes. Other than that, he was pretty much a non-factor, other than his usual plethora of fouls. http://www.basketball-reference.com...equest=1&p1=hawessp01&p2=odengr01#stats::none Player G W L GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS Greg Oden 3 3 0 2 19.7 2.3 5.0 .467 0.0 0.0 1.3 2.0 .667 2.3 5.7 8.0 1.7 0.3 0.0 1.3 3.7 6.0 Spencer Hawes 3 0 3 2 33.7 4.3 11.3 .382 1.3 2.3 .571 2.7 2.7 1.000 1.3 3.0 4.3 2.0 1.7 2.3 2.0 2.3 12.7 Oddly, Hawes averaged 2.3 bpg against a Blazer team with Oden, while Oden didn't block a single shot.
I think he just wanted to impress everyone by naming a relatively unknown player that he can pat himself if he ever became an impact player. Its the Ramon Sessions Syndrome.
Shit I must have been thinking of someone else. I'll have to go look it up. (EDIT): I think it was Biedrins. My bad.
Wow. Are there Hawes family members on the board? 1. Hawes is a UFA. He is tall. Omer Asik just scored a $25M contract. You do the math. 2. You haven't heard of Stiemsma? I honestly assumed that he was pretty well-known. The Celtics are on TV all the time, and he played a fair amount in the playoffs. I'm sorry if I somehow made you feel ignorant. Perhaps this will help. Here's the Stiemsma-vs.-Griffin-in-Summer-League I mentioned:
how can you say no to this: http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/dailyweekly/2009/02/spencer_hawes_pays_fashionable.php
hawes isn't a bad backup Center or fill in center in the absence of a good center like hibbert. not much interest in him, he'll probably come in at a recent price...don't know who else will target him? Philly? they need to dump Igoudala first.
Last time I checked, preseason stats don't count. Of course, Martell was going to be an All-Star because of one preseason game, though.
don't be ignorant y'all. we need Greg Smegsma and his 3 ppg and 3rpg! He's the future (aside the fact that he is 2 years older than Hawes). :MARIS61:
1: Well you posted a highlight video, so you must be right. 2: Hawes is a talented offensive center. But no need to even reach out to him because Stiemsma had 6 blocks this one time. Ignorance is having irrational man crushes on all foreign players.
I'll add that if LMA starts whining about a trade after the team adds Hibbert and keeps Batum solely because of a rookie PG, then he's probably someone you don't want on your team as a leader. I don't think LMA would stab a rookie in the back like that, though, so it's likely irrelevant.
Hawes went 14p/10.6r/4a/2b per 36 last year and had an 18 PER on 20 USG. Other than one poster being upset that Hawes is a Republican (which I didn't know, but whatever), what is it about those numbers that is a concern? His per/36 rebounding was actually the exact same as Hibbert's, and his blocks were only 0.4 less/36.
