Daaaamn.. Go to the 15 sec mark.. A dude his size is pulling euro moves with ease like that? Ok ok ok what's the catch here guys? Why the hell would we be gifted with this player?
Watch him for five minutes and his potential is impossible to miss. He has an enormous 7-4 wingspan and massive 11.75-inch hands. Along with his physical gifts, he possesses a smooth shooting stroke and the ball handling skills honed from years of playing point guard as a high school and AAU star. ---- Weird
Erroneous. In 13 weeks of boot camp I went from 105 to 135. But yeah, if Barrett was saying it, I'm with you.
He wants to attack the rim and not settle for jump shots like LMA finally regressed to. In a few years he will be a beast.
It's physically impossible to put on 20 pounds of pure muscle in a few months. Most professional body builders have trouble putting on more than 8 pounds of muscle in a year. I don't doubt that Vonleh put on 20 pounds, but most of it is probably fat, and that's why he knows he has to slim down a bit before the start of the season.
What the hell did I gain? My quads got huge (from all the hiking with a 50# pack, I assume), I went from a 34 to a 39 chest, and I would submit that all ancillary not-usually-measured parts got significantly bigger. For other measurables, I went from doing 6 pullups, 60 situps and a 20min 3-mile to 17 pullups, 120 situps and an 18-min 3 mile in those same 3 months. And I promise the drill instructors did not let me use chemical "help". "Most professional bodybuilders", I would submit, are a) not 17-19 years old, b) not still growing, c) not in a basic training environment and d) are at a higher weight floor. But what do I know? Except that it IS physically possible to put on 30 pounds of "not fat" in 13 weeks. And I'd submit that Vonleh is probably closer to where I was in boot camp (skinny, athletic kid who hasn't filled out yet) than to a professional bodybuilder.
You're right, a skinny unathletic kid who has just started training is going to be putting on more in the early stages as his body fills out. That's NOT Vonleh, who has probably spent a good amount of his life training. Anyways, if you really think it's possible to put on 20 pounds of pure muscle in a few months, I suggest you go do some research on it. You're entitled to believe what you want, but I'm telling you it's not physically possible.
Fine. What did I gain? I've been told I'm a 500-pound brain, but Marine boot camp didn't add to that. I had spent most of my post-puberty life training as well. Not "lifting", but training (I was a pretty good lightweight wrestler).
A good amount of muscle, a good amount of fat. You were probably already really skinny, and at a very low body fat percentage, any sort weight or definition would have been immediately noticeable. You probably never trained in your life prior to that, and like I said the gains in the beginning are always going to be more. By the way, the amount of pull ups you could do before or afterwards isn't really directly correlated with the amount of muscle you have. It also has a lot to due with muscle memory. There are people that weigh less than me that can probably clear more than I could, for one reason or another. Anyways, any amount of information I give you won't be more than you can get from a simple google search. If you're really that curious about it there's tons of resources on training out there. Muscle building is a slow and methodical process, and for someone like Vonleh who already had an athletic body coming into the league, believing he could gain 20 pounds of pure muscle in a few months is laughable.
I"ve been telling you guys, that Vonleh could potentially be a SF, he's a ball handler and a fluid athlete. Take a look at this vid, he's a a natural ball handler and shooter. Not saying he has the skills of a PG, but he could get some time in and 3 or 4.
He seems to be a better shooter than Aminu or Harkless. I think we really need to give this kid regular minutes in the rotation, at least let him compete against the other team's backup. Lillard/Sergio Henderson/CJ Aminu/Vonleh/Harkless Leonard/Davis Plumlee/Kaman
Id caution people that it's still summer league. But its always better to shine in summer league than struggle.
My cousin is a former Mr. Oregon. Andre "bam bam" Scott. What you say is true. For body builders. Not for regular folk.
Lol! Why the hell do people want to do this? Have you seen Kevin Durant and LeBron James handles? They had those handles coming into the league. Vonleh is right where he's supposed to be. In the PF spot.
