Would it be worth basically gutting your team, to get 1 shot at GS?
Im not necessarily talking about Portland, but any team.

I would say 'Yes'....because it is probably one more shot than they would have had otherwise.

I'm in the same boat. I think Mirotic is better for Stotts. But Randle is the better player (and I like his contract better). Also, fuck what's better for Stotts.

Just curious, what do you like about Randles contract better? I think Mirotic’ contract makes it easier for us to make a 2-1 trade, and we’d also have his bird rights.

It would be two shots potentially. This year and next year.

We couldn't keep Randle in the off-season. He'd be an unrestricted free agent and we wouldn't be able to go over the cap to keep him since he doesn't have bird rights.

I think Mirotic is a better fit for Stotts and Nurk. But agree Randle is the better player.
Btw how does Nurk and Mirotic get along? being from the same region. If good...then it may help us resign him.

Do you expect Randle to command a contract starting above $10M/year?

He does have a player option so if he agrees to pick up his option we would have early bird rights and Turner, Leonard and Harkless will be expiring when his contract is due.

They’re friendly with each other. Nurk is friendly with any baller from the former Yugoslavia lol, and that includes Jokic.

Oh, I was under the impression that Randle was on contract through next season at $9m. Maybe I was wrong about that? I liked the idea of him not being a short-term rental.

Do you realistically think anyone could dethrone the GS even with Davis? I doubt it very much.
Even LA couldn't with Davis with what they'd have to give up.

Thats true. I just don't see a team even with Davis being able to take down GS. Anything could happen, I guess?

Looking at the numbers, because who really sits around watching Pelicans games, Randle actually grades out better than Mirotic defensively. Numbers can lie though so I wouldn’t read too much into it, but it’s still interesting. I’ve also read that the Lakers never did individual defensive drills while Randle was there. Is there really any reason why he couldn’t develop into at least average on that end? He’s pretty athletic, doesn’t look overmatched when switched on the perimeter, decent length. Is it just an effort thing?

I doubt his player option will be picked up. He's putting up monster numbers this year and will look for a more long term contract.

I'm still not sure the Blazers would re-sign him for the Full-MLE if that option presents itself.

There is the possibility that Randle picks up his option and hits the market next summer when more teams will have money. Unlikely, but maybe?

Wouldn't need to use the MLE. Non-bird exception could start around 10.4M, if we wanted to keep him.
