As usual, you try to paint the issue as one of bigotry when it's not. It's a lame money grab. I grew up in LO. I spent the Blazers' Title season living in N. Hollywood 2 blocks off Sunset, studying music and hanging out with musicians and actors of all stripes. I've been fortunate to be able to get to know thousands and thousands of unique people in the last 4 decades through work and travels, and I'm quite sure every hue of the rainbow is well-represented. My own family includes the son of a Nigerian Prince, a Grande Ronde tribal member, a member of a Californian tribe, people struggling with addictions and mental illnesses, complete idiots and actual geniuses, repubs, dems and libertarians, fundamentalists and atheists, war veterans and peace protesters, self-made millionaires and others on disability or food stamps, straights and gays, assholes and angels. I've known suicide victims, rapists, wife-beaters, sociopaths and attempted murderers, cheaters and liars.

And yes, some of my best friends are people.

It's not a matter of bigotry, that's why I think the lawsuit is bogus. It's a matter of respect.

Threads like this show why folks here in the U.S. should not get smug when we discuss the official gay hating in Russia, or Nigeria, or Uganda. Because there are plenty of people right here who share those views (in fact, U.S. Christian groups helped write those laws). People who have contempt for us. Who refer to non gender conforming people as "it". Who start threads in sports forums for the sole purpose of expressing that contempt (similar to the thread on Muslims and photographs). Who don't bother with facs. Who would love to see Russia, Nigeria, and Uganda style laws here.

 

Most of us are simply poking fun (or anger) at the ridiculousness of the lawsuit. The contempt is founded upon that. As I, and many others here have stated before, we're cool with whatever people want to be. Be open, be honest, and be direct. As far as the facts we currently have and what is known publicly about this case, I am in shock there are people out there that can honestly say this lawsuit is ridiculous.

 

The rules change every fucking month. I'm not going to keep up to date with all the bullshit. People can do whatever they want and I don't really care but when they want me to change my worldview and change what I do day to day to suit whatever they want to feel that day, "they" can go fuck themselves.

 

How do "they" do that if "they" are not male or female?
