As my dear late dad used to say: "If my aunt would have had a mustache, she'd have been my uncle." Yes, if we turn bledsoe into LeBron James, Anthony Davis or any other player of note like Simmons, this will have been a great trade. Not gonna happen, though.
He can be traded right now, or for the next 6 days, and count as his full salary for this season. A team could dump future salary if they wanted by trading for him from us. However, once the season is over he is only either counted at 3.9 million, or you have to guarantee his full 19 million to count as that.
he was 21st pick in 2021 whether hes got potential or not, i have no idea, im just saying he was a 1st round pick
OK, so basically if they're traded by Thursday at noon, Bledsoe and Winslow do represent up to 16M in expiring contracts... maybe there's a deal out there from a team that really wants to have some contracts with non guaranteed money for next year... I hope that's not all we just did, took Keon Johnson, a 2025 second rounder and 20M less on the books next season. That is really shitty value for two guys who are really good basketball players even if they weren't the best fit on this roster.
This is cleaning up Olshey's mess. He overpaid to acquire RoCo (in terms of assets) and then he overpaid NormP (in terms of money). Powell is a borderline starter being paid much higher than that. On the court, he's a positive, but including his contract he's a push and maybe even a negative. On the Blazers, especially if/when we retain Ant, he was definitely a net loss. RoCo is a borderline starter, too, and while hos contract is obviously much better, it might have taken the value of RoCo to get the Clippers to take Norm's contract. I hate this trade and it definitely makes us worse in the name of accounting and money, but we're painted into a corner here (as has been obvious for some time) and we're going to have to take some medicine before it gets better. ESPECIALLY if the team retains the delusion that a Dame/CJ pairing will actually ever work at their current salaries.
pretty sure he can be traded again before the deadline and the Blazers would not need to worry about the guarantee for next season. After the trade deadline they would
Well shit... unless these guys are a part of another trade this is just the shittiest trade I've ever seen us make and the shittiest one I can think of off the top of my head.
1st off is this a good trade talent for talent -- HELL NO -- no question On the surface this trade looks like complete dog shit but before going into a complete meltdown mode and wanting Cronin fired and Jody to sell the team let's see how this plays out til the deadline and prolly til end of draft ... THEN this can be judged. Until then sit back and enjoy watching the Blazers tank the rest of the season.
