You have literally no idea what future moves are. Woj even mentioned in his story this is the precursor to other moves. Not a single person on this board knows the circumstances in which the deal was made. Cronin has been in the NBA for a long time now, we don’t know if he’s a great GM but we sure as fuck can’t judge him until we have the full picture.

Am I upset we didn’t get Mann or Boston in this deal? Definitely. But we have LITERALLY ZERO idea of the market inside the NBA. We hear Norm in rumors for Jerami Grant and it raises your expectations…in reality he’s a starter who is now on one of the longest deals in the NBA. He’s been unhappy all season and maybe there was a similar deal that we could have taken but Cronin went with this as a favor to Norm and his agent by sending him home instead. There are so many outside forces that go into each deal and for you to sit here and throw a tantrum is pretty comical.

Give it to the deadline, then be angry if you so chose but my god man get some fresh air and take a breath!

The season was a bust from the moment Dame went down. Enjoy the tank, let’s get a high pick, reset our books and retool around Dame for his last 3-4 year run.

With all due respect to you liking Watford, I'd suspect you'd be in a very, very small minority who think Trendon Watford is better than Robert Covington, and that has nothing to do with the contract.

People like Watford because he's overachieved, same as Elleby, but their expectations were so low that it wasn't hard to reach that bar. IMO, neither one ever gets a sniff of being a rotation player on a legitimate contender. Covington already has been not just that, but a contributor.

Of course, this deviates from the actual point of our exchange, which is your contention that making this move for a minimal return in assets was to somehow maintain other assets -- we're still dropping a rung in talent and resources on a roster that's already probably fifth in the West at best with a healthy Dame. It's a move that doesn't compute, to give away assets instead of using them to acquire other assets that could have complemented players you maintain the move was made to build around.

What use is tanking with lesser players when the only draft asset we get back is a 2nd rounder 3 yrs from now?

Agree. It's got to be about setting up the big move next week. Bledsoe has only 3.9 guaranteed on his last year. That's very tradable. So to me, it's setting up a CJ + Bledsoe multi-team deal, which hopefully brings back the help needed to improve the team going forward.

Now I SERIOUSLY have to consider which Joe is more sleepy. Thought it was obvious....but maybe not.

I base it on the following...

The Moda has been beautifully maintained and improved over the years. That arena is not showing its age. If you look at the Sonics fiasco Key arena was pure junk and no one wanted to build a new arena. It was financially impossible for the Sonics to make that work. Also, Blazer fans are much more rabid than Sonic fans. This is because Portland has very few sports offerings compared to Seattle.

But here is the biggest reason why the league and owners will not sign off on a move, money! Owners get nothing from a team moving. But an expansion fee for a new franchise could put $50+mill in every owner's pocket.

Portland also helps anchor an eventual league expansion and realignment if the NBA adds Vegas, Seattle, and/or Vancouver BC.

Cj and Bledsoe can't be combined. Not that we'd really need to. What salary could we possibly need to aggregate that much for?

Wow we must have a very talented team since we are clearing cap in order to keep half of it.

True, but each player has a cap hold that is actually pretty high. That cap hold, unless other moves are made to get lower, will push them over the cap. So just the MLE for next year.

Next week? When this one will be official likely at the end of the day? So they'd need to be traded separately.

Two undersized score first guards? I’m sure other teams are clamoring for that package..

I didn't know that CJ & Bledsoe couldn't be traded to separate teams in a multi team deal . But i think, Both, will be traded at the deadline.

It all depends on the $$ in the deal with the other teams. Technically, they can be in a 3 team deal together, as long as you don't need to combine their salary, so you're right.
    Here's hoping!
