We gave up our two most tradeable pieces for a guy I've never heard of who MIGHT be good someday MAYBE. This trade appears at first blush to be the worst trade since Jermaine O'Neal, but far less forgivable.
Damn shame Trent isn’t in that core. I agree Ben Simmons and Thybulle fit the new timeline that appears to be being set.
Damn, I was hoping you were gonna tell that this really good pizza would be delivered in a couple days!
This trade also seems to make trading CJ all but impossible as I always had one of those two attached to him for value. Unless we trade for our pick back from Chicago we seem to be done and fucked.
This is actually a really solid trade after I’ve had more time to dissect it. Championship parade on the way, baby baby!
Could be, still do be determined for me. Its obvious it was shedding salary but it could be for making room to replace two positions tat were manned by guys that were really playing out of position. More so RoCo imo, but the three guard line up wasnt working either and they want Simons signed I bet. CJ & some could still help fill one of those positions in a big way.
Yes, this. One would hope the goal could have been attained with better value coming back; particularly better future value. Does anyone think this is truly the best we could have done in the furtherance of that goal?
If the plan is to find a better (aka more expensive) four as well as to re-sign Ant and Nurk, sacrifices had to be made (this is probably what Cronin meant by taking a step back to move forward) If we got equal value in return talent wise, it would’ve likely been expensive and been more of a lateral move. It’s clear that the priority in this trade was to dump money to open up room for those other moves. We’ll see what those other moves are. If Cronin sacrifices Roco and Powell for a more dynamic power forward, or someone that fits better with Dame, I think that’s a trade off everyone would be fine with.
Yeah, i've calmed down a bit and we still have: Dame CJ Nance Anfernee Jusuf Nas And the three new dudes. Let's see what happens before Thursday
absolutely, but the concern I expressed in my post was that this is LESS likely now. I still hope this happens.
I didn't want equal value in talent... I don't even mind "losing" a trade if it means achieving another goal or more importantly the fit makes the team better. I do mind getting completely fleeced and that's what happened today. There is absolutely no reason with the incredibly small amount of talent coming back that the second rounder wasn't a first or we get that second rounder and a future first as well. What's done is done I guess. Let's just hope that there's another trade or even two that make this trade make some sense.
I think it’s more likely, Dame (prob Billups too) wouldn’t sign off on a move like this unless there were a grander plan. It might not happen next week, but I’d be shocked if this was a one step move. And if it is you may as well just trade Dame and blow it up.
It’s clearly not a stand alone transaction. It’s part of something else. Otherwise it makes no sense and even Cronin isn’t the best, he’s not an idiot trying to end his career.
