Columbia was once owned by the parents of a guy who was in my platoon back in New Jersey during 1967-1968. Funny story, we were hitchhiking together from our base to Newark, N.J. and started talking. It turns out that we went to grade school together for two years but never knew each other. At that time the guy was from N.Y. City and had the accent to with it. He looked a bit like John Travolta. The company his parents owned was White Stag which got bought and evolved into Columbia Sportswear. Just a liddle' bit of useless trivia.
I lived close to the White Stag plant in SE Portland. Great product and still have one of their tough durable canvas tents.
