If the Suns make the deal for Garnett where does that leave Kobe? Bulls don't want him...what do you think the Lakers are going to do now...I think it is the end of the world for Laker fans...We lose Garnett and Kobe. If that happens we are for sure in rebuilding mode. And with Jim Buss running the show now who knows what hes going to do...
<div class="quote_poster">GatorsowntheNCAA Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Phoenix loses out? Isn't the deal for them essentially Amare and fillers for KG? Amare was disgruntled in Phoenix playing 2nd fiddle anyway. I don't think it's that bad of a deal for Phoenix. If anyone loses out it has to be Minnesota. #3 and #11 and cap space. They have 3 lotto picks now, but not much more than that on their roster. Looks like they'll go after #1 pick next year.</div> What is Minnesota doing? Out of all the various trade scenarios they settle for this one? LMAO. They don't get any proven player back, just draft picks for a former league MVP? This is a solid trade by Phoenix for the short term, and Atlanta just made out like bandits. Atlanta has to be considered (on paper) one of the better teams in the East now. Amare is exactly what they've been missing.
I'm not scared of a Marion, Nash, and Garnett trio. I was more scared of Marion, Nash, and Amare. Horrible deal for Minnesota, especially with all the ones out there. I agree with Shape, ATL makes out like bandits. Easily a top team in the east if they stay healthy and click.
Atlanta has a good starting 5 even though they didn't address the PG situation. Josh Smith, Amare, and Joe Johnson is scary in the East. Nash/Marion/KG sounds good, but I believe that the Spurs could still beat them. Minnesota gets owned but needs to rebuild anyways so get young players and wait a few seasons.

Seriously, that trio is very scary, not to mention the Suns would stil have Raja, Barbosa, and Diaw. Remember how well Diaw played just a year ago, when Amare was injured? Then compare the trio of Nash/Marion/KG to the trio of Cassell/Sprewell/KG. I think we can all agree emphatically the Nash/Marion/KG trio is better, and KG was able to get to the WCF with those two and not much else. Now you're adding KG to a loaded Suns team. KG owns Tim Duncan head to head, Phoenix should be the favorites to come out of the West.
Shape, stop. Thanks for ruining all optimism, I swear. I'm still more scared of Duncan, Parker, and Manu. I'd take Duncan any day of the week over KG, 4 > 0.
KG is very hungry and if he lands there though, they could beat San Antonio. I don't know I rather have Phoenix stay with their core though.
If the Lakers offered ATL- Odom, Kwame and Bynum, even the 19 pick instead of Amare they could still send the picks to Minn. and be better off. If Garnett goes to Phnx, he will be with Nash forever, Minn stands a better chance at catching up the Lakers with Kobe and Garnett than Phoenix with Nash, Garnett and the rest of the Suns.

I think it's clear the Lakers never had any intentions of dealing Bynum. There's no way Atlanta would turn down Odom, Kwame, Bynum and the 19th pick ahead of Amare. Atlanta really doesn't want to take on significant salary because of their legal issues with ownership. They get Odom (who they could move easily), they Kwame's expiring contract, and they get Bynum who's still on his rookie contract, PLUS they still get a draft pick.
If KG goes to any other top team in the west the Lakers are done and will not have a chance at a title in the next 6 years at least. First, Kobe goes for sure and that means rebuilding. Second, JO is no better than LO, let alone adding Bynum and the 19 pick for him. Third Artest is a cancer that Sac is dying to get rid of and the Lakers don't want him at any cost. KG and Kobe would attract free agents and become contenders, any other move just kills time until Kobe leaves and rebuilding starts and who would want to come to LA after Kobe leaves and Mitch is still the idiot GM and Buss has lost his mind.

Mike D’Antoni said that they were going to have a run at a tittle with the same four guys Nash, Amare, Marion, Bell.True?? .If we trade Odom to the Bobcats get their 8th pick .Andrew Bynum, Kwame Brown, the 8th pick, the 19th pick, an additional expiring contract from Charlotte and possibly a future first round pick going to the Wolves for Kevin Garnett. That should do it.
