Dame, CJ with Rivers as backup, Montero playing backup 2 and 3, Turner with Crabbe at SF, Meyers or TRob at the 4 or Harkless in a small lineup. Plumlee and Davis is a bit meh. Maybe trade for a C

I'm not disappointed because of who we missed out on, I'm disappointed by what Olshey has actually done. You can't control the choices that other people make, but you can control the choices you make - overpaying for a guy who doesn't really address any of our main weaknesses is...disappointing.

Neil's moves have been a mixed bag, but unfortunately that mix is trending in the wrong direction. He generally drafts well, but as far as trades and free agent targets go I think there's probably more bad/neutral than good.

    This, pretty much.

Turner makes us marginally better, I'm not losing sight of that. But excuse me if I'm not that excited about marginally better with little to no upside.

Evan Turner is a great player. He's versatile, team player, makes the players around him better, fits the same mold of Olshey free agent signings.
Turner, Crabbe, Harkless is as good, efficient SF rotation as any

Maybe not from you but I bet we could find a very similar post when we signed Aminu.

I'm withholding judgement until after next season is over.

That looks like one of the worst teams I've ever seen that someone thought could win a title.

For me, I'm withholding judgement only until we sign Mo Harkless. If we don't re-sign him, I'll be pissed.

I'm with you on this. I loved the way he progressed over the season last year. He still had a lot of room to grow.

He and Turner at the SF spot would be a really nice rotation. A few minutes for Crabbe there in small ball lineups.

Lebron hasn't re-signed with the Cavs yet, so there's still hope.

Ill take decent, usually decent players come in, do their job/role, and assimilate to the locker room well.

You know how Michigan State says "we are, Sparta?" Portland should say "we are role players"

With regards to the weather, NBA players shouldn't really give a damn about the rain here. During the parts of the year when it rains the most, they should be in a gym hooping most of the time anyway. The only time the weather is really nice happens to be during the offseason.

I'm not that disappointed we didn't get anyone of the big names, but i'm very disappointed we are taking part in the bidding war for mediocre players.
We lost our dignity when we signed Turner.

We should have focused on keeping the guys together, maybe bring in someone like Jordan Clarkson if we can (he only got 12M\yr from the Lakers) and if that's not possible then sign unproven\undrafted\unknown 20 yr olds from the bottom of other teams' rosters,D-league and Europe.

Agree completely with the first paragraph.

Beyond that, Neil's done a great job and continues to improve end results though his options for improvement continue to dwindle. This season will be telling. But I can't blast a GM for making more of out of what he's physically been given. Roster keeps getting younger, yet end results continue to improve. The jump we had this year was unreal and unrealistic, as much as I thought it was possible. We keeping playing the bridesmaid in free agency, which sucks, but the front office continues to battle. We've had a few swift plays that didn't work out (RFA's). I can't fault the GM. And shit is skewed with this crazy free agency period and cap raise. I'm anxious, and the pace we're on seems to be that we'll maybe ( too early to judge the upcoming roster) finish next season similar to this season.

But damn. We're in a decent space to be in, grow from, and then jump into a short-term run. Let the average talent squad develop that chemistry - things are shaping like the late80's. Lotta mediocre takent around one prime star that bonded over a few years of continuity. That created a fun early-90's.

    In Neil, I trust.
