The Nets have all the leverage, and now is the perfect time to deal him. he is a unique talent, and everyone sees how Team USA is undefeated when he plays on it. Every star in the league wants to play with him, and right now every one of them is texting their GMs demanding that they try to acquire him. The question is whether they are willing to sell their soul to do so. There is always one idiot (see: sacramento signing Mikki) and that's all it takes. Rod is playing this perfectly by signalling that he will listen to offers but will not give Kidd away. If the Nets play this right, they will just need a half-season to rebuild, like they did when they acquired Carter. The question is whether they will give the reins to Marcus or acquire another starting PG.

How bout they do both? Acquire a starting PG, and let Marcus and that PG get lots of minutes, sort of like a TJ-Caldo tandem.
Unless, of course, you're referring to getting someone like, say, Andre Miller. Idk if I'd like that.

What would be the point of getting Jar and Farmar when we have Marcus. Marcus may not be starting material but I think he can pan into a great sixth man. That's why I'd rather Harris. He is getting better plus he has finals experince if we can ever get back there.

Kidd's value is going to be more now than it will be come deadline time. You maybe able to extract a prospect and picks now. By deadline time, you're looking at picks and cap space.

If the Nets were on a winning binge right now, then theNets would be able to get the most back, obviously. Of course stars want to play with him, he's still an excellent PG, all the stars wanted to play with KG as well, but not too many teams made legit offers, and the Celtics came away with him relatively cheaply. KG is way better than Kidd.

And the big difference between this and Carter, you guys acquired Vince Carter for garbage. In this case, you'd be trading a perennial all-star and definitely not getting equal value in return. How would it take only half a season to recover from that?

This is a team that was a finals team. They got a bad matchup. Specifically against the Warriors. The Warriors had thier number all year last season, it's a hump they either avoid or slam through. It'd be funny if the Mavs lose out games just to drop a spot to avoid the Warriors...they should. Then again, this could be a mental hump that they need Kidd to remedy. The more they feel that way, the more the Nets get in return. Josh Howard must be the starting price.

BR, I think you are shooting yourself in the foot. The Celtics have been the best team all season thus far. Having a 17-2 record is no fluke.

hmmmm maybe you are right BR. The Celtics are the best team right now [spelling buddy]. And by the time the playoffs come around, the Celtics will be ready, rested, hungry, gelled, and ready to kick anyone's ass all over the arena.

Again, you provide no substance to back that up. And by substance, i mean facts that support your argument.
