<div class="quote_poster">Schaddy Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I don't think the biggest story line about this is that Dirk got the MVP despite his vanishing act in the playoffs...it's that Steve Nash didn't. Even if Dirk averaged 40 ppg in the playoffs, he does not deserve the MVP over Nash. The Mavs won while Dirk had off-games. It seems that when I watch him, he has a lot of those. He'll get 20 points and 8 boards, but it's on 5 of 14 shooting or something. When Nash is not playing for the Suns, they can barely keep above water. And Nash hardly has any off-nights, because he could go the whole game without making a basket and still be the best player on the court. Dirk's defense is below average, for all the stats he puts up he's not a tough rebounder, and he still hasn't become a great playmaker. I guess I'm just amazed that he got this, when in my mind, there is no debate who the best player in basketball, and the most valuable player, is. It's Steve Nash. No questions asked. And it's pretty embarassing for him not to have gotten this award, regardless of whoever else it did actually go to.</div>

I don't even know where to begin, but I think alot of the other posts summed it up best. So much stuff wrong with this, it's not even worth the effort.

I`m usually behind Dirk, but where was he in the playoffs? Or, does the NBA just rely on the regular season to see who is the most valuable to their team?

David Schoenfield calls Dirk's MVP lame and lists other lame MVP choices (Nash isn't listed, though he does have a "not lame" area that he names Nash in).

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yes, the voting was conducted before Dallas flamed out against Golden State, and, sure, Nowitzki was the best player on the team that won the most games, but his was hardly a spectacular season: He averaged 24.6 points (only the fourth-best total of his career) and 8.9 rebounds (sixth-best total of his career). Statistically, it was just an average year for him, and that's without mentioning how Steve Nash outplayed him in Phoenix's two wins in the "MVP showdown" games on March 14 and April 1. (Dirk shot a combined 17-for-46 in those two games.)</div>

    Ben Wallace? Jason Kidd?

I think the Dirk did deserve the MVP they guy helped the team win 67 games. But i was shock when he let the Warriors kill his game he didn't deserve it at the end because he had a crappy first round. Nash didn't really deserve it this year and Kobe really deserve it Last Year. But this year Dirk deserved it so congrants to Dirk and Dallas...
