Why don't cars have two batteries? You know--one for starting the vehicle, and a separate one to run electronics when the alternator isn't functioning. So that if you were dumb enough to leave your lights on overnight, you'd still be able to start your car that next day.

Seems like an obvious solution to an age-old problem, which means there's got to be a reason it isn't done. Any car guys know why?

Added cost in manufacturing. Space- depending on the car. The added weight would kill MPG, when everyone is trying to reach the EPA standards for new vehicles. I run dual batteries in my truck (1 ton crewcab dually), but it already weighs so much, a battery won't matter. That, and I have never actually figured out my MPG anyways (I'm scared to know-It's BAD). Lol. Go online or hit the auto parts store, and pick up a "headlight reminder buzzer" for 5 or 10 bucks. Installs right in most fuse boxes. Cheap and simple. What's your year, make and model? You can PM me, if you don't want to blast it all over the internet....

Oh, I haven't killed my own battery in years. This was just a thought I had while I was listening to an ad for some truck saying its built-in inverter is strong enough to power a 55-inch TV for your tailgate party. I thought, "I wonder how many people have killed their batteries while tailgating", which then got me to thinking about dual batteries in vehicles.

Seriously though, with as many people get stuck or stranded because of dead batteries, it just seems like battery redundancy would be a smart thing for an auto-manufacturer to consider. I mean, don't you think that would give you a leg up on the competition? I don't see how the extra weight of a second battery could impact MPG that drastically.

And since you brought it up, I proudly fold my 6'5" frame into a '98 Escort of which I'm the 2nd owner.

Oh yeah, I agree it's a great idea, thus my truck setup. I'm no expert on the manufacturing end of it either. Just possibilities from stuff I've heard, and seen over the years. For the most part, manufactures are cutting every corner the can, to save money and weight. Cheap ass lightweight parts that break easy. Poor designs that may save time in manufacturing, but make what could have been a simple 15 minute repair, into a 2 hour headache. Stuff like that....

Hey now, I had a 87 Escort (and a 82 EXP) for YEARS. Lowered it, shaved the handles, painted it candy apple red. Hindsight- what a fricken waste of money! It was still just an Escort.... Probably the most dependable car I've ever had though. Love em.

Most exciting thing I saw on the cruise was a bold afternoon jewelry heist with guns in St. Maarten.

I haven't jerked off in like 2.5 weeks. Makes you really focused and more aggressive. Set up 2 dates later this week last night, one was from Tinder and one was a girl I've known for a while. Usually I'd just say fuck it and do nothing and jerk off to save money but now I've been aggressive on online dating and in real life.

been tempted to hit up random girls I kind of flaked on. don't know how that will end hah

Did you ever wonder if you were actually "special needs" but no one told you? Kind of like the 6th sense? You're the last person to know?
