Watford is another possible hope. At 240 and a 7'2" wingspan, he has the size for a PF. I wonder if they think he can make that 2nd year jump. Of course, none of us want to have to rely on that to happen. He has the skills to be a decent backup. I just wish he was a little more athletic.

    Hello,

upside and potential is a huge factor. Plus second most important position vs least important position.

I mean CJ’s problem was never really his offense. He could score in bunches. But also freeze out his teammates.

Simons does feel like he doesn’t need the ball in his hand constantly in order to score points.

I’m a big defense person though. Our backcourt is still undersized and can’t defend. This team doesn’t really give any matchup problems to anyone because we’re severely lacking size and then versatility defensively.

I'm happy as well. I still think Nurk can develop, and has finally gotten back to his physical self. I didn't want to overpay for Ayton. Go Nurk Go!

it's theoretically possible. It's even possible that both Ant and Nurk agreed to the deals with the stipulation they could still be traded to certain teams. It's also possible Jessica Alba will show up at my door today, horny, while my wife is out of town

    Rudy Gobert $38,172,414
    Karl-Anthony Towns $33,833,400
    Joel Embiid $33,616,770
    Nikola Jokić $32,478,837
    Bam Adebayo $30,351,834
    Nikola Vučević $22,000,000
    Domantas Sabonis $19,937,500
    Myles Turner $17,500,000
    Clint Capela $18,206,897
    Steven Adams $17,926,829
    Jusuf Nurkić $16,600,000 (?)

that's 10 and I left off AD and Porzingis who have spent so much time playing PF (Turner as well I guess); that would make Nurk 13th. Arguably, you could only make a case that Nurk is comparable to Adams and Vucevic from that list in talent; and Turner in injury history. You also have to figure that Ayton will end up above Nurk on that list but he's better

but that isn't the only gauge of his contract

    Lauri Markkanen $16,475,454
    Jonas Valančiūnas $14,700,000
    Christian Wood $14,317,459
    Brook Lopez $13,906,976
    Kelly Olynyk $12,804,878
    Dwight Powell $11,080,125
    Richaun Holmes $11,215,260
    Derrick Favors $10,183,800
    Montrezl Harrell $9,720,900
    Tristan Thompson $9,946,611
    Jakob Poeltl $9,398,148
    Thomas Bryant $8,730,159
    Mason Plumlee $8,525,000
    Evan Mobley $8,478,720
    DeAndre Jordan $7,827,907
    Mo Bamba $?
    Chris Boucher $7,009,615
    Wendell Carter Jr. $14,150,000
    Jaxson Hayes $6,803,012
    Kevon Looney $5,178,572
    JaVale McGee $?
    Robin Lopez $?
    Bobby Portis $?
    Robert Williams $10,700,000
    DeAndre Jordan $7,827,907
    Dwight Howard $2,641,691
    Enes Freedom $2,641,691
    Andre Drummond $2,401,537
    Mitchell Robinson $?

some of those guys are on rookie scale so it may be apples/oranges...but maybe not either. Is Nurkic worth 75% more than Poeltl? I don't think so especially considering Nurk's extensive injury history

the equation: if he has the 13th highest contract among C's, accounting for him being a traditional paint-locked C compared to many other C's who are comfortable on the perimeter in the new NBA; and considering his injury history...yes, he's overpaid.

If you dont think Nurk is comfortable on the perimeter you're not paying attention, especially last year. He has elite hands and is more mobile than the typical center his size. Theres a reason Billups adjusted the way he was used defensively as opposed to Stotts, and why they just committed to him long term.

Hell yeah! The Beast is back on a decent deal with 4 solid years...Eubanks signed as our backup...all is good! I didn't want to pay Ayton more than we paid Nurk and Eubanks combined and glad we didn't. Eubanks hook shot is for real and he can run the floor. It's a good off season...anyone who thinks we suck or are mediocre is just ranting. We're a hell of a lot better than we were starting last season and it's not close...defense! Pass it on!

My only fear is the fall off of depth and you can't argue that Nurk is not injury prone. That's my one and only worry. And we're the blazers and he's a center so...

I kinda wish they signed another center, someone with true size who can do some of the things that Nurk does. Easier said than done, but Cousins is still out there. A Nurk/Cousins/Eubanks depth chart with Watford as the small ball center would make me feel pretty good.

Interesting that Moses Brown and Wenyen Gabriel got backup center jobs with good teams while Cousins and Whiteside and Kanter are still without a job. Boston signed Gabriels and I think the Clippers signed Moses Brown today

Whiteside is another guy I’d sign, but not sure how he fits with Billups, although he evidently did get an offer from Portland last offseason.

I agree with you on this for sure. I just don't know if there is any way to get him? Only so much money out there.
