Be careful speaking about a Blazer center and using that word. You also should never talk about the joint between the ankle and the hip.
how on earth does powell have higher ceiling than nurk, he has higher ceiling in health, that for sure steven adams signed 2/35, average 17,5 per jarrett allen signed 5/100, 20 per jonas valanciunas signed 3/45, 15 per nurk is better than all these guys, the only thing they have over nurk is health and i cant bother to look some other centers contracts
Adams was a severe overpay last year and NO effectively gave up a pick to dump him a year after. Allen was a RFA. And he's closer to Gobert in his ability to protect the rim than Nurk. I don't think Nurk is better than him at all. Valanciunas' is a decent comparison, but he had a very team friendly declining deal. This is probably the most apt one. I think Nurk will be comparable to these recent signings: Holmes (21): 4 yrs, 46 mil Noel (21): 3 yrs, 27 mil Brolo (19): 4 yrs, 52 mil Thompson (20): 2 yrs, 19 mil And the idiotic signings Horford: 4 yrs, 109 mil Dedmon: 3 yrs, 40 mil I don't see any universe where Nurk gets >15 mil unless he becomes an all star while staying healthy all year.
If we don't get Nurk to sign an extension by the trade deadline, I think you deal him. If he's stayed healthy to that point in the season, he has trade value and we just can't let that value and his 12M in salary walk out the door without any return.
I said to achieve the higher salary he will have to return to Beast mode & develop a signature shot. He hasn't done that YET! I hope he does, because i believe he has the ability as well. But until then, he's not getting near 20 mil. IMO.
I did say higher ceiling on Powell as a role player. What i meant was as an all around talent, so i didn't explain that well.
Again, I'm not saying that the risk/reward might not be in Nurk's favor to not sign an extension. I could argue Nurk would be silly to not take the max extension, but also argue it wouldn't wise for him to take a 4 year, $20m extension. I am saying that your assessment that there is "no incentive" for Nurk to take guaranteed money is inaccurate. There are scenariors where the extension would pay off, from a monetary an mental standpoint.
Nurk won't walk out the door as long as Lillard is here, and if Lillard is gone we won't be interested.
I don't think that is accurate about Nurk being attached to Dame if he's not feeling the way Chauncey is using him and/or the money we're offering. As far as if Dame is traded goes and us not being interested... are we interested in watching someone with trade value and a current salary of 12M vanish? That's not how teams win championships. We have to get value back for a guy as good as Nurk (if he can stay healthy). Your comments about Nurk do illustrate something very well. This team is completely up in the air right now. It's crazy.
He stays on the court on defense. Nurk tends to get into foul trouble way too quickly. IMO that is very bad defensive play. Also he doesn't get injured at nearly the rate Nurk seems to. Just my opinion. Jonas is a better all around player. At least to this point. He also seems to know when to dunk the ball.
If healthy I think he’s going to make huge jump from last year. I was probably one of the few that was happy with his progress last year. Defense was noticably different when he was in the game and I saw him doing a much better job finishing his shots. I think he’s top 8 center in the league
I agree. I thought i saw him scraping off the injury rust and improving as the last part of the season went on. i think Nurk wants to play team ball. I dont think he cares who scores as long as he is part of the play, screening, passing, whatever. He wants to be in olved. Keep him involved will keep him sharp and focused and will spread everything out. just forcthe love of God dont turn into a 3pt wannabe shooter. We don't need that from him with this roster. One every few games is fine, but not a few a game.
I think Coach Billips will be great for Nurk's game. And the result will be Many wins for PDX, and many dollars for Nurk's bank account.
