It's not the letting him play out the contract it's the letting him dangle and forcing another team to offer him max before we do.
I know, but he asked what I took issue with. I dont think there is any disagreement that if nurk plays to the level we all think he's capable, that he is a max player.
Wasn't Hayward unrestricted? Nurk would be restricted, meaning we wouldn't lose him unless we wanted to.
I was talking about Haywards rookie extension, Utah let him hang and wouldnt give him a max until someone else offered and they matched. Which caused a lot of tension and resentment between Hayward and the FO.
Ha! I just noticed the darts in the picture. I wonder if they have to replace the board after every game he plays, because he poked too many holes through it....
14-15: 62 games 15-16: 32 games 16-17: 65 games He's not an auto-max guy. He'll have to show he can play 70+ games in a season, and play well. Assuming he plays well in 17-18: 75+ games: near max or max contract (Blazers probably a strong playoff team) 65 - 74 games: large to near max contract (Blazers probably barely make the playoffs) <65 games: not obvious as to what to do (Blazers probably do not make the playoffs) Everyone seems to be blithely assuming he plays a lot of games and playoff glory is ours. I hope everyone is right....
