I think Nurk will likely end up an avg to at best a modestly above avg center, not elite or top 5 and likely not top 10. I think the key is what we pay a guy like that because that has to be considered. I think something like 13-16 mil per is reasonable/realistic, but it depends if he and his agent have their head in the clouds like Nerlens Noel or they will be reasonable

 

So many turnovers, so bad free throw shooting, terrible %s overall. So lucky we didn't hand him a max contract and waited for the hype to go away. Of course he ll get a big one, but now you have the right to give him 70/4 or 75 and say take it or get what Noel got. Not many teams projected to have cap space and certainly none would give a max to Nurk. So we suck but at least we save money Not that it matters but the way he plays I just don't want him to get a max, he is bad right now.

This is the Nurkic I expected to see when we made the trade last year, so I can't say I'm horribly disappointed . . . of course I am a little disappointed, because if this is his mean level of production then this team is totally stuck where they are in terms of their ceiling: The same Damian and CJ show where they expend all of their energy on offense, have very little left for defense, and a bunch of guys who can't really shoot (Vonleh, Turner, Harkless, Aminu) launch perimeter shots that don't go in at high enough rate; this team needs Nurkic playing at least a facsimile of what he was last spring if they're going to have any kind of chance of balancing their attack on offense.

Good news: I think it's correctable. Cut down on the silly turnovers, be a little more aggressive on the offensive glass, and finish with a little more authority inside.
