Wow this article claims that NBA teams when considering valuation have outperformed the S&P 500 by better than 10 to 1 (1057%). That kind of flies in the face of what many of you in here have said about it having modest returns on investment. I had read many times that NBA teams were one of the fastest appreciating assets in the world over the past half century but many of you shit on that idea without backing it up with any numbers. Well, read this article and then try to find how the stock market has outperformed NBA franchise appreciation. Edit: I read that wrong, it's closer to 2 to 1 because the NBA is up 1057% over the last 20 years and the S&P 500 is up 458% over that same time period. Still pretty damning for those of you who claimed that the stock market has always outperformed the valuation increase of NBA teams.
