Good: Dame looks in mid-season form. Nurkic is noticeably quicker. Collins has immediate impact on D. Biggie has nice range....wish we could combine his shooting with Vonleh's explosiveness. Both have a nose for the ball. Briscoe has 'something'....not sure I can pinpoint it yet but I like him. Bad: This team is DYING for a Small Forward. Aminu/Harkless/Layman (see above) Pat should really have stuck to baseball
Yeah--with Fournier, Ross, Isaac, and Simmons, they have no room for Hezonja, whereas they really have no legit backup for Gordon. Vonleh would fill a need for them.
What did you dislike about Harkless? I thought he was solid in his time. The moment he came in for Turner in the 1st, the Blazers dominated. Turner belongs in your "bad" section, but I don't see why Harkless would.
Harkless seem more confident in there he made plays he should start at SF. Collins look good at defense but sometimes look little lose on the offense end. But that could be the speed of the game but it will slow down for him. Overall I believe he will be the starting 4 in the future. I want see how these rookies due when we play Toronto Thurs. it be a good test for them.
Layman shoots the sweetest looking bricks I’ve ever seen. Great form. Maybe he’ll get his touch down at some point? Or maybe he needs new contacts?
Fair enough. Was more a comment on the position as a whole. Harkless was by far the best of the 3 but I still think it's an ongoing issue into the season.
I think it is safe to say this this is a dramatically different team when Nurk is on/off the court, but I just don't see him playing more than 30 minutes because of foul trouble. He is aggressive and I don't really think the refs are going to warm up to him. So that is a concern. But he looked like Marc Gasol out there last night with his passing, outside shot. and D. Collins still looked a little weak on his few post up attempts but I do love his potential to cover multiple types of PF's. (Perimeter and Post) He does seem to be a good fit next to Nurk. More so than Swanigan. Caleb played very well but I have also done a 360 on him starting. He is so thick I just can see him getting out to the shooter on the perimeter that I think Collin can. And We need Caleb's scoring off the bench. And I agree with all of you....we need a 3 & D guy off the bench. I would use Aminu as part of the deal. Until then I want to see what a Napier, ET, Layman,, Swanigan, and ED combination can do. People bitch that Napier shoots too much, but I welcome it.
More reason for nervousness: Stotts emphasized that Harkless and Aminu play well together. Personally, I want Harkless starting and Aminu not starting...
I am pretty sure he also tried a combo of Harkless, Aminu, and ET to start the 2nd qtr.....with I think Pat and Meyers. Not a good idea. Although both Meyers and ET hit a 3 during that time, there is just not enough shooters. The Harkless-Aminu combo worked ok 2 years ago with Dame and CJ, because of their ability to switch defensively. They got out and pressed and created turnovers. But I don't see that much anymore.
http://www.nba.com/video/2017/10/03/0011700014-phx-por-play5/index.html Look at his agility. Seven footers aren't supposed to move like that.
I agree. Defensively he is probably just as good as any PF we have right now (who is healthy) with his ability to cover space, that we might as well start him and hope his growing pains are minimal. We need ED's toughness with the 2nd unit, and Swanigan offense with the 2nd unit. That leaves Aminu who just frustrates me too much.
I navigated over to S2 to say everything you just said. So now I guess I'll just add my two cents: I agree.
You honestly thought they COULD at some point? Man i was not cool with giving up AC like that the moment that trade went down. AC did a great job at what he was put in there to do. Spread the floor.
