I think this is a big reason I'm on the "bring him back" bandwagon. Who knows whether or not Greg will have any sort of sustainable health in the future. If he's healthy now, play him now. Get what use out of him you can. This fits into my "maybe we should have kept Bowie" idea. Let's say Sam Bowie would have only been healthy during the 90 and 92 playoffs but was injured the rest of the time. Let's say his healthyness means we won the championship those years. Would it have been worth it to keep him around and suffering through all those crappy injured years to have those two championship playoff runs? I know it's crazy to say we could have a championship run out of a lower seed. But get back a healthy Greg and maybe he beasts all over the other team and the sky's the limit.
I think history showed we made the right choice re: keeping Sam or trading for Buck. I really doubt we would've had that 3 year stretch had he stayed on the team. Buck was a huge difference maker. Sam did end up having a decent season, but I don't think his #'s would've matched Bucks impact.
Imagine if everyone got miraculously healthy in time for the playoffs and we trotted out a front line of Oden, Pryz, Camby, LaMarcus, and Howard! Could you imagine game planning for that as an opponent?
The kneecap is fully healed. Now it's about getting the muscles and connective tissues back into shape.
I think Oden can rock the dreads like Brian Grant and Etan Thomas. Bosh came out looking like an Avatar.
It's funny this came up I was just thinking about Greg's Faux-Hawk picture earlier today. I thought that was sweet. This will be better.
There is zero chance Pryz comes back this season. It's unlikely he'll be ready at the start of NEXT season and very possible his career is over.
link? I thought they said that he would need 6 to 12 months to recover, and it wasn't nearly as bad as people thought? from what I remember, he should be ready for training camp, and probably ready to play by Decemberish at the latest.
I'm sure a healthy Oden can help us, but at first he's going to be out of shape and then the team has to get use to playing with him again. Most likely though he'd just come in for spot mins until he's in better shape, but I doubt he'd make much of a difference if he doesn't play until the playoffs. I would though rather have him playing than not. IF healthy.
That would be an interesting look. And for his next trick, he could try growing a leg with a working knee in it!
Why do I feel like this is from a "Friends" episode. Thank you Draco LaMore'. What do you base his career is "possibly over" from? I missed this entirely
