You know what kills me, it's like no one around here remembers what Amare' looked like coming back from his MF surgery for the first year -- dude looked completely done. Give Greg an actual off-season to work on his game and not just his knee and if he still comes up short then bitch, otherwise people need to calm the fuck down. Secondly, Why is it that Rudy constantly craps the bed with his horrid shots and everyone still swoons when you mention his name, Greg struggles and it's meltdown city?
And THAT is exactly my benchmark for Greg. If he shits the bed next season then I'll entertain the thought that he's a bust. Until then? Yeah. I'm patient. That's all.
Amar'e just looked horrible when he first came back. I remember that summer league that year and he played in it. He was getting destroyed by guys not even in the league and he couldn't get any lift or explosion. During the season it was obviously better but he had lost a lot of his athleticism, but next year he looked crazy good again. This was a big procedure that takes time to regain the quickness and athleticism to where it once was. No one also seems to remember that Greg wasn't even cleared to participate in five on five scrimmages until late August, so. I'm a patient person so I'm fine with waiting until next year. I know a lot of people aren't because they ran their mouths to their friends and on message boards because they couldn't understand the nature of Greg's recovery time. So now that their mouths wrote a check that Greg couldn't cash (because he big surgery) they're angry at him. How predictable.
This is going to be Oden's first real summer to work on his game. Hurt wrist during his high school days Came into Ohio State with a broken hand and played with it for most of the season. Hard to really work on your game with one hand. MF surgery 2007 - missed season Rehabbed for over a year to get back There's been no time in there to really work specifically on his game, and that's why he's still so raw. A summer of getting his body into the best shape of his life and working on his game is going to do him a TON of good.
One thing you've said tonight that isn't totally worthless. Greg is way too big. He had to be over 300 to start the season, idc what anyone says. I'd say he's still at 280 right now. Get to 260.
In hindsight it was a terrible idea for the trainers to have him in the weight room so much and let him put on that much muscle.
That's what I've been saying. His upper body looks much bigger than his lower body, and when that happens that can mess with your balance.
