could the team have waived someone else instead of Oden for that trade to take place (If I'm remembering right...it was the Wallace to New Jersey trade, right?)

I'm not worried about Oden, btw, so this isn't me being snarky. The guy is playing spot minutes, and not exactly setting the world ablaze.

    How sweet- another suck-Oden's-dick thread.

If Paul Allen had an ounce of gumption, Oden would be shark shit rotting on the floor of the ocean. What is the point of being rich if you don't put the money to good use?

Probably. But regardless of what we did, Oden was not going to be on this team. That's just the facts. Anything else is just trolls using hypothetical (almost as much as we are now.)

Oden looked awesome when he rim-checked himself today. His vertical is ungodly!

The fact is Oden and Lebron are friends. We should have kept Oden because if we had Lebron would sign with us this coming summer. I can't believe I'm the only one who has said this.

If Oden stays healthy. He is a difference maker by default. If not a dominant. I never liked Portland releasing him. It is what it is. He is where he wants to be. Who knows, if he stays healthy, maybe he will feel obligated to give back to Portland some day and resign with them. Not likely. But maybe.

At some point, staying healthy no longer matters. His injuries have robbed him of a lot of his abilities.

At the age of 25, he is young enough for me to take the chances on that.

Maybe he is the enforcer, until they signed Birdman last year the Heat were always pretty soft.

I don't think you guys are grasping that I really don't think there's any chance he would have re-signed here. It's all moot because he would have been a UFA and he would have bolted.

I get that and great point

I still think you go through the motions as if you are going to keep him and want to keep him. And in the end show him you still would love to have him for the right price. Who knows, at that, he might of bit.

The team would have been in the same position financially had they let him walked as they were when they waived him. Except for the few extra dollars you would have paid him to stick around until the end of his contract.

I think it was clearing the air though. As long as Oden was just hanging around, supposedly rehabbing, the team wasn't going to be able to move on. They waived him, they amnestied Roy, they fired Nate, and they started over with LA and Dame. The closing of one chapter and the beginning of another. I think if Oden was still hanging around, it would have been too much of a reminder of what could have been.

As long as he was in the mix. That possibility was still a possibility. Papa G made a great point in one of his posts. He (if he could stay healthy) and LA together would have been nice. Healthy Oden or Healthy Lopez. Even if it is like you say, he lost some of his game overtime, who would you rather have?

I just think they jumped the gun on such a move. I think the owner got on such a role that day and he had no one there to veto any of his decisions. And maybe he should have. The release of him didn't have to be done then. They could have let it play out.

But again. It is what it is. The team is in a good spot.

Oden and Oregon start with O. It was a perfect fit.

Oden needed to go some where else to have any chance. Portland needed to move on.

Has Oden made a FG that isn't a dunk this year? His rim-check today was full of amazing, too. I admit I felt bad for him, because he didn't even get the ball over the rim, and hit the underside of it.
