C'mon now. You were not there. You do not know what happened and any report you can dig up might not tell the complete story. Going all "He Hit a woman so he is a bad man" is just wrong. Don't get me wrong there is no good reason for hitting a woman EVER! but it happens to a lot of guys that get into a bad place. The fact that he has taken responsibility for it is what is right to do in that situation. He has money so you know he is a target. Greg is well known to be a very soft spoken and easy going individual. He is god fearing and knows right from wrong. The injuries that happened to him happened. No amount of bashing him can make you feel better about it. You also have no idea what led up to the incident and have no idea what happened after. Passing judgement on him for a wrong seems to also be a bit harsh. But if that is the way you feel i can also respect that. You have that right.
Thad Matta seems to think pretty highly of him... http://www.blazersedge.com/2015/3/1...-ohio-state-portland-trail-blazers-nba-career
I got nothing against the guy. I figured he would go to dental school. He mentioned he wanted to be a dentist in one interview. LaRue Martin ended up working for UPS I think.
It's Odens bashing that leads to fan bashing, and I don't think she felt better about it because he's soft spoken or religious. The kid had a history of immature behavior and admitted problems with alcohol. I gave him 2 years of support but this guy lost my respect. It's my opinion. I formed it over several years of observation. His problems were made public. We didn't dig them up.
Please don't look at my years when i was 19,20,21 and 22. You most certainly would never feel i was worth a damn. I went into the Army at 23 and i did much better after that. If you really want to form an opinion from what you read and what was made public about a very public figure then i guess that again is your choice and i can respect that. I would fight for you to keep it. But like i said from what i know of this man he is a very soft spoken and easy going. Maybe he deserves some benefit of the doubt. IMO he does. Good luck to ya Greg.
Seconded. He's a nice guy prone to sadness, depression, and alcohol. Although if a major league team promises him money, I'll think they're stupid. But I like him.
Usually when situations like that happen, there is some evidence it might actually happen. There is no evidence that Oden can make a comeback, nor is there any evidence he can make a comeback AND actually be able to play decent minutes. And on top of that, there's no evidence that he can do all that and be a strong contributor to any team that is contending. The guy is done. It's not like he's played a ton of games in the 8 seasons since he was drafted. He's played 105 games in 8 seasons worth of games.
If Pat Riley let him go on a team that badly needed a center, I'd pay attention. I watched film of his comeback in Miami when they signed him and he couldn't run up and down the court twice without getting completely gassed. He may be the next Hasheem Thabeet...3rd string practice fodder. Gasol and Zbo would crush him in practice.
