Oden to return Sat? Should he come off the bench?

    Oden should most definitely come off of the bench...as it was, I didn't like that he became the starter so quickly before...it would be one thing is J.Billa was playing mediocre ball, but he provides everything that is needed for the starting unit. Plus, Oden can be more of a focus on offensive off the bench...and lesser competition to dominate...etc...etc...

    It seems like a no-brainer :dunno:

    There's a difference between posting about basketball and posting ABOUT A POSTER.

    No, MIXUM does not get to post "how he pleases". Neither do you, and neither do I.

    We all post according to rules, and those rules involve posting about the Blazers and the NBA.

    Either you do not understand and are more dense than you should be or you're being an asshole on purpose. Which is not cool.

    I wouldn't. Getting rid of the three or four of you that consistently bitch about him would probably make life easier for the 100+ of us who can somehow go an hour without calling him a name or complaining about his existence.

    Being negative isn't against the rules, insulting other posters is. Beyond that, repeating the same stupid insult ad nausea reflects far more on the poster doing the attacking then the one being attacked.

    I am a big Oden fan, but I think it's best for him to come off the bench at first. Joel is clearly playing well and we don't know how Oden's going to do in game conditions... actually, I think we all can guess he'll be too heavy and out of shape, etc.

    Letting him come off the bench will relieve some of the pressure on him as he rebuilds his stamina. It also might let him play against inferior (bench) players and get some confidence back before he steps back into the starting lineup.

    I urge others to use the ignore poster feature. I works great until other posters start quoting the ignored, taking their bait and giving them the attention they crave.

    So, rather than bitch about posters you don't like, put them on your ignore list and we can all stop complaining about them and get back to talking about basketball.

    At the very least, if a poster gets on your nerves, do the rest of a favor, exercise a little self-restraint and don't quote his post in your response.

    Yep. Joel has shown he can hold his own against the starting centers in this league. Let him continue to do so and let Oden abuse the pathetic stiffs most teams have backing up the 5 spot. I think it will also help keep Oden out of foul trouble. With Joel starting, no more two quick fouls in the first two minutes for the game for Oden.

    I think coming off the bench is best for both Oden and the team at this time. Let Oden and Joel battle it out for the starting spot in training camp next fall, but give them clearly defined rolls now and divide up the minutes about 50/50.

    Think of what a luxury it is to even consider having Oden play off of the bench. Przy took a big gamble signing with Portland considering the team was still under the control of Steve Patterson. What a great decision he made for not only himself, but also for the Blazers and their fans. That said, I'd probably reinsert Oden with the starters at some point before the playoffs because I think he'll be very important for the Blazers to have a chance of winning a series.

    MIXIM's enablers :lol: take a look in the mirror. Dude definitely wants attention and those that attack him do just that. If we didn't have the same posters lining up to insult him in every over the top thread he makes, his stuff would barely get any responses and would be off the first page in hours.

    If posters want him gone, ignore him. As far as who will get banned, I'm flexible... I'd just rather this regular feeding frenzy of petty sniping stop.

    As far as repeating the same stupid shit, that's exactly what MIXUM does. He has no intention having a basketball discussion. All he does is post the "same stupid shit" over and over. Mods allowing that to happen is very unfortunate and MIXUM would have been banned a long time ago in any other forum I visit. It's a shame he's able to get away with what he does.

    Yes, sorry for enforcing the rules rather than just banning unpopular posters. ;)

    "What he's allowed to get away with" is being negative about the Blazers. That's an opinion anyone is allowed to hold. I'm fairly surprised at how difficult this concept is for some people: if you don't like someone, or their opinions, ignore them. The only reason MIXUM is such a presence on this forum is the legions of people who respond to him incessantly, while at the same time calling him a troll.

    Here's a logic problem: If you think someone is a troll (that is, someone who posts in order to provoke and draw attention), do you: A. feed the troll (be provoked, provide the attention) or B. ignore the troll (deprive the poster of attention)?

    If everyone who hates MIXUM stopped responding to him, he'd cease to be a presence here. He might still post, but no one would care because they just skip past.
