Back the original post topic, since the other crap is boring me to death.

The largest benefit to the addition of Oden is the subtraction of Frye. If Oden only averages 5 points and 5 rebounds a game for the rest of the season it would be a huge improvement. I expect Oden will do better then that, though.

I sure hope Bayless and Outlaw are willing to pass him the ball from time to time. Maybe even let him re-post, though that is probably a pipe dream where Outlaw is concerned.

I really, really wanted this to be the year Frye solidified his status as a Blazer. Instead he bought his ticket out the door. I just don't think there is any way he can get it going here. I think he needs a change of atmosphere....like Turkey.

but even his delivery was fine in this case. The most negative things he said was calling a couple backups crap and half the board does that. Here's the OP again...
    seriously, wheres the beef?

I agree with that statement. Roy isn't LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, or Tim Duncan.

I also agree with this one as well that started the thread.

Miller will be a FA this off-season and Portland is one of the few teams that can go over the MLE. I'm thinking 3 years 25M would probably be in the ballpark of what it would take. They'd have to renounce Blake, Frye, and Ruffin, but it wouldn't compromise their ability to sign any of their other vets. He's not the ideal guy to target because of his age (he's 32), but I'd dispute the idea that Roy can only play with a strong shooter beside him (if thats what you're inferring). The question is compared to Blake, would Miller's superior athleticism and playmaking ability make up for his inferior outside threat? I'd say yes. Portland has boatloads of outside shooters including Roy. Is there any question that a Miller/Rudy pairing is far superior to any other Portland can currently put out on the court when Roy is taking a blow? If the medical opinion is that there is good rubber left on the tires, Miller is a worthwhile option to consider.

I wasn't talking about this post. It is in his posts where he is discussing the faults of the Blazers and in his delivery he goes very chicken little, with a lot of opinions he tries to pass off as fact, acts a bit superior with his "just the truth" statements etc.

When he does things like that it doesn't seem like he wants to discuss things but rather tell people that his opinion is fact and that anyone believing anything different is just an excuse maker, etc.

He's really no different than some other people who point out the Blazers faults etc, it is just their delivery and posting style is more I guess engaging.

I do not think that it is good business that your highest paid player be your 5th or 6th most talented player. Especially if he is only going to be around for two or three years.

then Portland must be doing terrible business right now as their 3 highest paid players are Raef, Stevie Francis, and Darius. Somehow the guys are able to get it together and play through it... maybe the bright glow of their next contracts helps them bear this injustice?

Those three players are not in the locker room to be resented. When Raef was around last year he heard the slights towards him. They wouldn't even let Miles or Francis around the team. There is a reason for this.

By the way, thanks for the thread Mixum. It was nice to come home from work and read it.
I think that it is probably a good idea for him to come off of the bench. Joel is destroying people right now. And knowing that he can just come in and try to help out, may help Greg get back into it, without the pressure. I think Greg could thrive in an environment where he plays against second string players and knows that it is ok to foul.

While I feel most of Mixum's posts are baitish in nature, I completely agree that the enablers are the people that complain about his posts. And of all of his posts to complain about this is the oddest.

I don't put anyone on ignore though, it's easy enough to just ignore a post. I did like the idea of ignoring someone that threatens to quote everything mixum posts just to defeat the ignoring feature. :)

I don't think there's much debate about Oden coming off the bench when he comes back. The only real debate is will he be worked back into the starting lineup for the playoffs or not?

I really want Oden to be awesome when we get to the playoff's. That would be so sweet.

If he works off the rust and is reasonably conditioned by the playoffs, I hope so. White Przybilla gives Portland a lot of Oden's defensive and rebounding presence, he can't match Oden's offensive presence. Oden's double-teams drawn are a big factor in getting his teammates open shots.

Grey Oden is a superior offensive threat to White Przybilla, no question.

Well played. That was an extremely productive use of a typo. No sarcasm, it really was.

At the morning shootaround, McMillan decided to promote three-year veteran Shavlik Randolph to backup center, ahead of rookie Greg Oden. "We need some oomph, some fire, some scrappiness," McMillan said. "I want to see if (Randolph) can bring that."

Miles was reportedly around the team plenty last season... hell, he was wearing a suit behind the bench and leaning in on Timeouts in games I attended, so I know that claim is BS. Raef was also obviously around the club all last year and I never heard a peep of discontent about him in the press. What "slights" are you referring to and how were they so terrible that the he or the club couldn't perform to their capabilities in any way? Guys are aware that the league is a business and that rookie salaries are slotted... they know their chance at big money comes when they hit Free Agency and has little to do with what others are making.

I truly think you are grasping at straws here on a nothing point.
