    Wheels has an update:

    - Oden said he felt no pain after practice today.
    - Expects Nate to play him only 5-8mins per half to give him enough time to acclimate.
    - GO is excited of potentially playing in front of family/friends in Indy on Wednesday, and then playing in front of OSU friends in Cleveland on Thursday.
    - Troy Murphy might not play.

I hope we see the Oden from right before his injury- it would give us some twin towers to pound our way into home court advantage.

Regarding the Mixum thing- I think people who attack him every time he posts need to get a life.

You complaining about someone else detracting from the focus of a thread is ironic because you're complaining about complaining... you're guilty of doing exactly what you are complaining about. Plus, any time you participate in our threads it's like who let the clown out of his room. You're obviously screaming for attention (that isn't related to the thread topic) and can't really be expecting anyone to take you seriously... right? Are you going to play stupid that your act isn't one big sideshow joke?

That's some funny stuff from Oden there.

"I expected the NBA to be a lot more physical. But as you can tell with my fouling situation, I'm a lot more physical than everyone else."

Try the ignore function. I highly recommend it. It takes away attention from those who scream for it with every post.

Besides, looking at his posts makes both my eyes and my head hurt. It's simply not worth the effort to try to parse his gibberish.

Actually, the straw I am grasping at is where in a JQ interview he complained because they would not let him practice with the team, lift/physical therapy with the team or go out on road trips with me. But go ahead and type down to me like you think you are addressing Mixum. It was painfully obvious that the front office did not want Miles around the team at all and only let him around when he complained and I am sure that KP got a call from the players union.

Raef was around the team all of last season, sure. And what kind of freak show was he? I remember an interview whare Aldridge was goofing on Raef being the oldest and not playing. I am quite sure that Aldridge knows Raef makes at least double he does and does not appreciate it. Also, why did Raef forgo surgery in the off season and piss off KP by having it during training camp? Oh yes, he said he was hoping it would heal on its own, but then KP said they knew last year he would have to have surgery. I would venture to say that Raef knows his act is a side show and did not want to go through it again so he dogged it to spare himself further embarrassement.

As for Francis, would you really like to debate his not being in Portland? Portland, desperate for a PG even today punted his sorry ass to the curb before the ink was even dry on the trade papers.

While the NBA is a business, it is human nature to resent the person that is making more money than you are while contributing absolutely nothing. I am certain the vast majority of people in any career would not like that.

And as I said, it was painfully obvious the team did not want Miles around. When he did finally start attending games and poking his nose in on time outs I just laughed at the spectacle. Everyone knew he was not wanted but he had to play the role of being interested so he could look like a real NBA player and sit behind the bench and wink at his strippers in section 103.

I stand by my assertion that no team wants their highest paid player to be the fifth or sixth best player on the team. But then I will add that Raef was taken on to get Roy, so that is a rare exception. Unfortunately Portland had Miles' dead weight on the cap and then took on two years of Francis to dump four years of Randolph. I am sure KP wished that Miles, Francis and Randolph were never around to be a cap factor.

Now go ahead and argue how it does make sense to have $36.5 mil of dead capspace. Forget about our differing opinions of weather Raef and Miles were side show freaks. I remember Jon Koncak, the guy Seattle signed away from NJ, maybe Mcintyre or something that were signed to huge deals and then the joke of the league for many years. Last I checked, Joel P. is the fourth highest paid player on this team, is not on a rookie contract and has contributed double what Miles, Raef and Francis ever contributed. I am sure he would love to see that money go to those that are contributing to winning games. Don't bother trying to convice me other wise, I know human nature.

Naw, I think maris is trying to make a correlation between Nate promoting his rookies over people that have already played in the NBA (to an extent).

Like, if Nate's going to treat Sergio that way, why doesn't he treat Greg the same way and promote Shavlik ahead of him.

At least that's what I took from reading that post.

    OT:
Either way, I'm excited to see more Bayless; Whether or not he's going to be the future PG of this team, I want to get the damn yo-yo PG situation stopped. I think the yo-yo bullshit ruins our new guys. Look at Sergio, I honestly think that if he was on another team with meaningful minutes, 20+ a night, he'd do wonderful. Same with B-Rex (to an extent, cuz he's a rookie, but perhaps perform like Conley?).

Please dude, I'm not talking down to you I'm disagreeing with a point that I still don't think holds water. First of all I trust/use JQ's inside info about as much as I go to The Enquirer for insight on the economy. He's a proven source of gossipy misinformation, so why should I? How far are we removed from the club becoming so sick of his tabloid ways of using quotes out of context that they started video taping every interview?

You claimed that Raef and Miles were "not in the locker room to be resented" last year... which I know was flat wrong, so I pointed it out. You have since thrown out a bunch of speculation that you claim is obvious to all but as evidenced by our many threads on these guys/those times is clearly anything but. Players goof on each other all the time but I'm supposed to believe some single incident relayed by an unreliable source is evidence of true resentment? I'd guess a bright bulb like Raef gave it right back. Hell I recall LA goofing on Greg last year, should I jump to the conclusion that something is truly wrong between them? Was the team stagnant because of petty sniping or is trash talking/goofing on teammates the norm and not something that gets in the way of them being able to focus and improve? I recall Barrett relaying a real riff between LA and Travis and Brandon over a perceived slight at not being invited along to a restaurant following a game in Memphis. LA claimed to freeze them out off the court not speaking to either for a good while, yet the team was still able to win their next 12 games.
    nice strawman
good for you. The league is unlike any business I've worked in. I've never been subjected to a rookie salary cap or had Bird rights attached to me when I've become a UFA, so I can only speculate. But if I were in the league making millions of dollars, and my agent was filling me in on how the CBA is structured to reward vets over guys on their rookie deals, I very much doubt I'd be so irrationally petty. If I were a talented young player like say LA, I'm sure my agent would be in my ear telling me that my own 10M+ per year deal was in the works as long as I took care of my business.
I'm sure KP has a lot of wishes, a flying car might be one. But instead of getting overly concerned about the typical spilled milk of injured players/guys who are not worth their contracts, he focuses on what he can control like where his young roster is going.

It's ludicrous to suggest that Andre Miller would be the 6th best player on this roster... 3rd or 4th is more like it. More importantly you do know that LA and Roy will be eligible for extensions next off-season right??? and that Portland could easily sign someone like Miller and still offer each 10M+? Of course they'd have a year to stew and resent Miller before their extensions kicked in :rolleyes2:
good grief... strawman off the tracks. I argued against signing DM to the deal he's on back when Nash signed him to it. NO ONE thinks he's a good value now that he's a shell of himself due to injury, and I certainly haven't been arguing that he is. Taking on Raef and Stevie was part of the cost of acquiring Brandon, Rudy, and clearing capspace this offseason that they might use on a FA vet like Andre or Josh Childress, or bundled with picks and players on draft day. So while they (RL & SF) aren't contributing to the Blazer Win column this season, their contracts clearing opens an opportunity for KP to add players who can contribute to winning games as we go forward.
