Agreed. Shape is the man. And he doesn't have to pay me anything (though donations are MORE than accepted), it's all about the JBB ties.
It's okay Rizzle, if you work hard you can get paid too! On a serious note: This Lakers board is really tight-knit and fun during season, especially game nights lol....remember those game threads guys? But yeah, we're fun and we're all REALLY direct and straightforward people. So don't take anything we say personally, but I think we fit in well together, and I'm including you.
Ha, how about the Finals thread from this year? Our ridiculously long thread that was basically only Laker fan contributions.
It was over 10 pages if I remember correctly But our average game threads almost reach 10..and thats every other night haaha
Everyone slamming Odom for this, 90% of the players even if they don't talk about are thinking about get a damn big payday during a contract year. Its all over the NBA.
Is it really that big a deal if he states the obvious to a guy asking him if he wants to be a bench player or starter? He tells the guy the truth he wants to be a starter during a contract year. Ask most players in a contract year and they'd say the same thing.
I'm not saying its bad nor did I really care that he did say that. I'm just trying to reason with why the others are taking it the way they are.
And 90% of players with that attitude will never win an NBA title. I honestly don't see why coming off the bench is taboo for these players. The 6th man role is vital to a team's success. The best current day example is Manu Ginobili coming off the bench for the Spurs. He has the right attitude about his role on the team and has embraced it.
It was actually 67 pages long with 1,662 responses. It was actually the busiest thread in the history of this forum, and by a lot. The second busiest thread only had 730 responses, and that was the thread for the Jazz series this year. In fact, the four busiest threads in this forum were all from this years playoffs. Crazy...
To be fair, thats the only example of a team not putting its best players on the floor at tip off....and it works great
Would you say Ben Gordon is the same? Cause my opinion is iffy about him lol I think he is a one-dimensional shooter, but he does produce well.
I would have to say BG is an example (as noted by my previous post, lol). He's hands down the best scorer on that team and has the potential to have a huge scoring night every night. The dude is an absolute lights out shooter and isn't afraid to take the big shot. He may not be on Manu's level, but he's definitely one of the best players on the Bulls and isn't a starter. He's certainly better than Kirk and Hughes...that's for sure.
By the way, Rizzle does have a point. As of right now I can't think of any 6th men who play on great teams, who are also great players. Only teams I can think of are back in the old days of basketball.
