webber and Ivo scored 57 of the 76rs 85 points. that is totally unacceptable. Those youngsters have to step up and score. Pistons defence was remarkable.
True, Korver needs to have abetter game two same thing goes for Iguodala both of them are too jittery out there, typical for a couple og youngsters in the playoffs for the first time. But when you look at it there were a few positives, AI and Cewbb played good together and Sam had a nice game on the boards. The 76ers just need guys from the bench to step it up like the Pistons bench did, because that makes all the difference. When you look at it, the Pistons bech got them back into the game, and Phillys bench didn't even produce worthy numbers. This is a hard blow, especially since they got off to a very impressive start. But the Sixers have got get their heads up because this series is far from over. The key is defense, Philly will win games when they get stops.
Minus webber and Ivo Detroit holds 76rs to 28pts. Much props to detroit. Im not a fan but that defence was superb. Much respect to the pistons and their fans. Webber and Ivo combined for 57 leaving the rest of the team to 28 points which is they way detroit wants this sereies to play out. Congrats on game 1! Dalembert 10 Iguodala 10 Green 4 Jackson 2 Corver 2 Everyone else ZERO!
Good game all u Sixer'z fan'z!!!! In the first quarter Philly did a good job. But I guess they hust fall apart after that. Anywayz big-up'z 2 my beautiful team Detroit Piston'z . And I guess we'll get ready 4 Game 2 on Tuesday :yippee: !!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Detroit B-a-s-k-e-t-b-a-l-l!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Game 1 Detroit 106, Philly 85 - Do not post in all caps. I decided to motify your post, but in the furture post reasonablly, all caps is not necessary. Avery 76ers Team Leader

Box Score
Good game, nice effort. No reason why the 76ers should be overly ashamed of this game. They put up a good fight, but just broke down. But it's okay, they still have a chance to take one game away from Detroit on the road, and that's all they wanted, just one game on the road and they still have that opportunity. Now what they must do is find a way to keep the intensity and energy. Iverson played a solid game, he lived up to his part of the bargain, Webber had a very solid game, but everyone else needs to step up. This was Dalembert, Korver and so on first taste of the Playoffs and now that they know how the Playoffs feel like they can get back to playing regular basketball. But the first thing I would take into account that the 76ers need to do in Game 2 is get the others involved first. At the get go, they need to the others involved first before Iverson and Webber can start doing they're thing. If the 76ers kept the energy up, and got a couple stops this game would have been much closer. But then again, this is the Pistons, and I could say that they're to blame for the 76ers breakdown. But again, we played solid but just broke down. Game 2 is on Tuesday which gives us a lot of time to recuperate and get our heads together. I can almost promise you that in Game 2 you will see a new 76ers team.
If you look around at most teams with 2 high calibers players, there stat lines always look like this.
Dude are u serious they only scored 6 points in the entire second half. that is deplorable. Andre 2 Dalemert 2 Green2 those numbers are a disgrace. And the sad part about it is that Philly wouldve had a chance if they youngsters wouldnt have missed their free throws and their layups.
I saw the game and it was a good one. The boxscore was a bit deceiving, the game was closer than the blowout that shows. The Sixers need to do a better job of preserving their leads. I've seen that from them a few times in the regular season and it looks as if it has translated into the playoffs. They played with a great effort, but the game got out of hand in the 4th quarter. Webber and Iverson lead the charge nicely. I liked how Dalembert played also with his 18 rebounds. Honestly, I thought that the Sixers would get swept off the planet by Detroit, but with AI around, you never know. This game was a good learning experience for the Sixers and I look forward to seeing more competitive basketball on Tuesday. Btw, congratualtions to the Sixers for making it to the playoffs!
Sad part for the Sixers is I don't think they can play much better than they did today. Iverson was shooting well, getting steals, getting assists. Webber had his best game as a Sixer with 27, Sammy D pulling down 18 rebounds and doing well against the Wallace brothers and they still got beat by 20. This series shouldn't last long. Was a 37 point turn around once the Pistons woke up. Wouldn't be surprised If this ended in a sweep.
your right. The 76rs inside scorers have absolutly no low post moves (they didnt even pump fake). the wallaces had a field day(blocks). And the only chance they have is if the fairy godmother can magically give the young guys some post moves. And that aint happening. I dont even see a 45 point performance from Ivo being able to dodge a sweep. GL philly they need it!
I must say I found it funny with Marc Jackson trying to challenge Ben not just once but twice in a row and both times Ben swatted his shot. Play of the day for me.
I'd say Webb, AI, AI, and Sam played well but the rest needs to show up in Game 2... a comined of 8 points is just ridiculous.
We lost cause our bench didn't step up,O'brien put McKie on Prince what his the worst move ever. I'd rather see Salmons on him. Marc Jackson looked like he's afraid of Wallaces and Korver didn't get enough shots.Iguodala should've also shot more, look what we had in the first quarter when he scored 8 points. Im happy that Webber had a good game,I knew he can do it. Also Dalembert was huge for us (AI ofcourse too) Marc Jackson was blocked by Ben Wallace like 3 times in a row!
Did anyone see that series of moves Billups used on Iverson at the very end of the 1st quarter?Woooo weee...
The sixers have no depth in there team at all. That was the reason the sixers couldnt keep up with the Pistons in the 2nd quarter. They got tired and the pistons had a new set of fresh legs with Mcdyess and Hunter. The sixers had no one to back them up. They got like 4 points off the bench. While Mcdyess and Hunter gave Hamilton, Wallace and Billups a nice rest and the sixers were still worn out and tired. Over the off season they need to get rid of these bunch of nobodys on there team that dont even play 3 minutes and trade them and their draft pick if needed to get a good sixth man off the bench. Mckie is not sixth man anymore he would probably be a 11th or 12th man on most teams. They sereously have no depth. Just look at the box score. This had been happening all year with the sixers since they got chris webber. Nobody could give them a lift and it was the same thing in game one
Tough loss but like Avery said, all we wanted was one win on the road against them, just one. I was watching CSN this morning and they reported that Detroit lost at the Palace only 4 times since Jan. 1st...looking at that I`m not really suprised we lost. Its just that great Piston depth that hurt us. Mcdyess, Arroyo, and just the whole Detroit team. Are bench really didn`t do anything and really kills down the road. In that first quarter we saw flashes of what we could be like during playoffs. Fast, tough, and just nasty. Tuesday night lets make it 1-1 and bring it back home...
Tough game for us. We started out strong but just lost steam by halftime. Iverson, Webber, and Dalembert all did their jobs, but the problem is- no one else did. As predicted, most of the young guys like Korver and Iguodala had a tough time finding their groove in the elevated atmosphere of playoffs. Next time we face Detroit, our role players really have to step up. Scorers like Marc Jackson, Kyle Korver, and Iguodala need to take some pressure off of Iverson and Webber. They just can't do it alone and it was evident yesterday. And I have to agree with YSM5- our bench isn't that great anymore. We lost three guys for Webber so its obvious we aren't going to be that stellar. However, what are we going to do about Mckie? I still think he's a fairly good defender when matched up with someone his size (Prince is definitely not his size) and has some range left in him. The only problem is that his contract isn't expiring anytime soon so I guess he's staying.
I really thought the Sixers has this game in the bag... What happened? If they play the way they did in the first half, they will be fine..
