I wonder why Maualuga is slipping so much. A few weeks ago, he was the consensus pick for the Chargers.
Yeah, our LB core with Merriman and Phillips and now English is set. I think this is a move to put pressure on Merriman.
Yeah. Hes obviously got potential, dude's a freak. There's a decent chance he coulda been there at our second round pick for christs sake! We could have moved down 10 spots and got him and picked up another second day pick (and he still would have been a reach 10 slots lower). Watched some highlights of him. Obviously those make him look good. McShay says hes a really hard worker and really competitive. I like him more than Maclin FWIW- Maclin seems like a huge vag who avoids contact and won't go over the middle. DHB seems more built, probably even faster, more versatile, creates after the catch, more physical, will go over the middle, hes good for more than just deep routes. Didn't produce that much relative to other top WRs but I read that he was constantly doubled and his supporting cast wasn't that good. Drops balls. Overall a really crappy pick. Its got big boom/bust potential though. Looks like other teams weren't too high on Crabs and Maclin anyway though as Crabs went #10 and Maclin is still on the board. We've got insane athleticism on offense now though with JRuss, McFadden, Michael Bush, Chaz Schilens, Johnnie Lee Higgins, and DHB. Oh and Zach Miller is a fuckin stud. Lots of guys who can break off big plays. Our O-Line is better than last season too. We're still too raw and too young. I don't mind swinging for the fences on draft picks but it seems like we do it on EVERY pick and now we've got a bunch of freak athletes who are all boom/bust players.
If the Broncos select Maualuga here, I'll be disgusted. I wonder if the Chargers are planning on moving Shaun Phillips to ILB and play English and Merriman on the outside.
Late 2nd round talent that was forced into the mid 1st round because of a lack of QB depth. Let someone else make this mistake. Fuck, take Everette Brown. Take a corner if you have to. Just not Freeman. Salary to production ratio = epic fail.
