I know next to nothing about Oladipo other than the draft scouting, but picking him as high as has been suggested seems like a huge gamble. Think about it for a minute, how many elite defenders came into the league as top prospects? Guys like Artest, Rondo, Sefolosha, Tony Allen, Marc Gasol, Bruce Bowen, Ben Wallace, and even our own Wesley Mathews, tend to be second round picks or undrafted (or pretty much written off among first rounders, like with Rondo). And the big name guys like LeBron and Duncan who are great defenders were even better on offense, so they were can't miss prospects.

Drafting for defense and hoping for offense to develop, you're as likely to find a Corey Brewer as you are a Russell Westbrook! I've always felt that you don't draft shooters high, but defense looks like just as big of a risk. Save those specialists for late in the draft.

Looking at who teams are rumored to like I'm starting to warm up to the idea of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope at #10. The Wolves are also very high on him at #9.

The LOLcats are very interested in Bennett. That would ba an odd c/PF rotation -- Bennett and Biyombo.

Oladipo is more talented offensively than all those guys you mentioned.

    Wow.

Barnes filled his role well. His role was "hit the open shots because they're throwing everything at Curry and Thompson." Which is why Klay Thompson didn't do so great.

Oh yes, that's right: he was being played at PF! That's not really viable going forward, is it? I agree that not many NBA PFs can stay with Barnes. He did pretty well against Matt Bonner. But somehow I don't think he'd be being guarded by Matt Bonner if he was viewed as a real threat.

    We shall see.

If you say so... The scouting reports on him all make that sound quite questionable. Tony Allen and Ben Wallace notwithstanding, of course.

The only scouting report I need is what my eyes relay to my brain when I watch him play. He ain't no chopped liver.

Just admit the Ariza comparison was bad. He'll be much better than Ariza.

He did a great job filling his role all season long, which is why he started and averaged 25min a game as a 20-year-old rookie for a coach that doesn't just give minutes out. Then came the playoffs, Lee went down, and suddenly Barnes played a bigger role and averaged 16ps/G, ranking 3rd for GS in the playoffs.

Barnes averaged 38min per game in the playoffs. Bonner played a combined like 50min in the whole series. Yup, it was all against Bonner

    We are all witnesses.

If we were to land the DAL pick he definitely would be my choice. Ford (with David Locke) both have said the same thing as well. They think after workouts Larkin and Pope will be the biggest risers.

I think he's easily an early 2nd rounder and is in play with Utah's second first-rounder.

The thing about Barnes this playoffs that really makes you have to take a look at the film and not just stats is that SA chose that person as the person to try and beat them by putting Tony Parker on him for huge parts of games. SA pretty much said they would rather barnes score then either of Curry/Thompson.
