Boy, there are so many different ways they could go with the pick if they keep it, glad i don't have to make the pick.

It seems like the same conversation that all of our conversations end up at. This team is going to have to take chances to get where we want. It worked on Dame. Are we willing to roll the dice again and that kind of player?

Driver in black SUV waves at me as I walk to car. It's Neil Olshey, w/CJ McCollum in passenger seat.

SMOKE and MIRRORS! Olshey is pretty good man! Ironically he makes it known that CJ is on his radar. Then when he is picked up from a team before us, we use it to grab the actual player we really want. LEN!!!!!

We need to pair Damian with a SG who is a good defender. If that's not McCollum, then he's not the answer no matter how dynamic the duo is on offense.

We need to pair LaMarcus (since we are probably keeping him) with a good post defender. Will there be one available @10? Would the Blazers be willing to trade up for one?

there are a lot of combo guards available in this league who do what CJ does, while there are very few bigs, do we really want to spend this pick when on a 6'3-6'4" combo guard when there are some C's that are raw but have big time potential? Plus we already have Wes, I don't wanna go combo guard, only SG I would take it Olapido and he won't be there at 10.

You do know that Len wont be there at #10, right?

He's in the convo for the #1 pick. I don't think he gets past PHX or New Orleans.

In other words -- trading up is our only hope for Len.

That's what I'm hoping for. I am also hoping we trade Matthews for a higher round pick and cap relief.

Trade Matthews to draft Len. Then you have 2 project centers (both wanting PT) and no starting center or SG.

Excellent. Then we finish our rebuild in next year's draft lottery and free agent crop. :)

The Blazers might not even get their pick next year. And if they do, I'm guessing you have an unhappy LA, Lillard and Nic.

Or sign a SG like Mayo or Evans.

OK, then no or little cap room left and still no starting center.

I was hoping that we move Batum to SG, then sign someone like Korver as back-up. Trade Leonard and #10 for Gortat and protected 2014 first rounder. Resign Hickson for 6 mil and Maynor for 2.5 mil.

All would work if Matthews is traded.

Starting Line-up: Lillard, Batum, Claver, Aldridge, Gortat
Back-ups: Len, Hickson, Maynor, Korver, Freeland, and Barton.

And if Gortat isn't working, he is expiring and we could use him to trade with a lotto team for their first rounder in a much deeper draft.

The problem here is mathews isn't enough to get into a high lottery pick and #10 and leonard is way to much for Gortat and a pick we wont get for years.

I guess I'll be the voice of dissent....

I LOVE the idea of a Lillard-McCollum-Matthews 3 guard lineup. Any 2 could play together. I feel that several people here are underestimating the impact of having 2 ball-handlers in the game together. I feel like this lineup could be effective immediately.

However, I HATE the idea of McCollum starting next to Lillard. If you're looking for a future starting 2, I'd go with the Pope. Pope as a starting 2 wouldn't be viable for a while.

It's weird that people are talking about trading the draft pick in the draft thread - it would be better to use another thread.

Here's a prospect impressing in draft workouts: Arizona forward Grant Jerrett. Only 19, he's rising on team boards. Great range, 6-foot-10.
