They wouldn't imo. Their skillsets are too similar.

You're right, been a while since I'd researched him. Thought he was more of a 3 and a better shooter for some reason. Seems like his jumper is coming along though.

It always comes down to the jumper for these young draft picks. Even for LeBron when he came into the league from HS. Until they are really consistent at it, they are just another average NBA player. The ones who get really good at it becomes the superstars.

The safe pick is Ingram. Plus I don't want him to go to the Lakers.

Is there anyway to get Omri Casspi?

28yr old, averages 12 and 5 on sick percentages. Above 40% from 3. Decent defender on the wing and swing to the 4 in small lineups. He's the one chemistry bright spot in SAC, but we know they don't give a shit about chemistry. He'll be a FA in 2017, but making only 3 mil in 2016.

Maybe S&T Meyers? Or straight up for Noah?

I know it's Screamin' A. Smith, but he supposedly said he thought Lebron would leave Cleveland if he got them a championship. I wonder if we could even get a meeting with him considering we're Nike town.

At the very least we might want to hang onto that draft pick to see what he does.

Would it be financially possible to sign horford and larry sanders while letting meyers, Henderson, and plumlee(trade for a 1st) go?

You mean plumlee? Portland did, and that was before he got an opportunity to start.

I have no doubts Portland could get a non lottery first for him.

I was just thinking, I'd never ever swap CJ for DeRozan at SG as I value his shooting way more than DeRozan's ability to get to the line and superior defence. However I think DeRozan could possibly be converted into a SF under Stotts' guidance, he's not that small, he's quick and his shooting could still improve like we saw with Aminu and Moe this season. He's way below in my priority list for the Summer but if we can't get any of Horford, Durant (obviously not feasible) or even Howard then we have to use our max cap space somewhere and using it on DeRozan will not be the worst possible outcome. Even if it doesn't work out and he doesn't adjust to SF position we will have the option to test two possibilities: a) move him to SG and try to get maximum value for CJ, b) use him as a trade piece in moving for a new PF/C while moving Aminu/Harkless back to SF.

Is this a completely silly idea?

For Plumlee? He'd easily fetch 15-20 pick IMO. He's a proven center, very good rebounder, decent defensively, improving at FT% and even if his offense leaves a lot to be desired he's still a more sure option right now than a center you could pick around 20 in this draft. He's basically ready to make an impact from the start, while players like Zubac, Jones or Maker will take a while.

I don't think we can trade Meyers for a pick though as his contract is expiring.

I think the realistic side of me knows that there is no shot with Durant, he will probably stay with OKC anyway, but if he doesnt I think the conclusion that I have come to is that I hope we get a legit meeting with him. I say this because I think even that will be huge for us a team. If other players see that he was willing to meet with us and we were a legit option then that looks great for us and although we might not have a ton of cap space again for a long it can still be nothing but helpful to out name brand if you will. So whether or not you like Durant or want Durant you should want him to at least be willing to meet with us and give us a shot. It would also give a good idea just how much progress we have made in the Portland is not a desirable FA destination problem.

The only caveat that I would have to this is if we have a REALLY good shot at one of the next tier of players and this would hinder that. But this also sounds exactly like how teams end up having illegal conversations before the FA period starts.

The more I think about it and see who's available, the more I hope that Cole Aldrich is one of Olshey's main secondary targets after we get turned down by Durant & Horford. An Aldrich/Williams/Vasquez free agency group would make us a very good team, IMO.

Aldrich is a legit starter in this league. He should be priority one if all the big FAs reject us (as expected). Vasquez is awful, can't shoot or play defense.

Is Vasquez really that bad defensively? I'll admit I haven't seen much of him in recent years, but I've always had the impression that he was decent on defense. I figured at his size he'd be a good tall backup PG.

Oh well--still doesn't change my interest in Aldrich and Marvin Williams. I could see those two, with Davis/Plumlee behind them, as a fantastic PF/C combo.
