    Durant+Horford:
Trade Ed Davis, Noah Vonleh for future 1sts
    Renounce Meyers Leonard, Mo Harkless

    Lillard/CJ/Durant/Aminu/Horford

But then we'd only have Crabbe and Plumlee off the bench. We'd need to find a Forward with the Cap-Space Exception (apx. $3M) Possible options would be Jared Dudley, David West, Vince Carter, Jon Lueur

    Horford/Durant + Whiteside

Get rid of 3 of the following 5: (Plumlee&Vonleh), Ed Davis, Al-Farouq Aminu, Moe Harkless, Meyers Leonard

Could end up with something like:

    Lillard/CJ/Aminu/Horford/Whiteside
    With Crabbe/Vonleh/Plumlee off the bench.
We'd still need to add some depth with a CSE signing.

Fair enough, but it's not really about one team, it's about multiple teams. As we have seen in these playoffs a injury here and a suspension there, and all of a sudden you can beat the best team in your conference. But if you have 3-4 other really good teams in your conference your odds are still lower to even make it to the conference finals. And in the east, as of now, there is only one really good team.

Now that can change by August. But if I am a top FA and I have always played in the east, (i.e Horford) I might consider staying there. As of right now the west is still loaded....and the east is not.

Horford only plays Center for the Hawks because they have Milsap. He's a Power Forward

Wasn't Josh Smith being used as their 4 at that time?

Horford will stay east he from Florida and he plays in state right above it. I believe he will work something out with Atlanta. Now Whiteside wants to stay in Miami but without birds right by Miami and amount money he will want Miami may not able afford him. Especially with all the other FA they have so Miami has a big decision to make this year. Now Howard is the third big fish and we could get him if he takes less the max because I wouldn't pay him the max. I don't know who Neil will go after this year but like every year he go after someone hard right from the start. It might not be none of the above players.

Dude, he can play either. He's a big man that can do everything. You're trying to fit him into this little box of yours, but he doesn't fit a mold. He might be the best all around big man in the league in terms of being able to do so many little things well.

He can protect the rim and is strong enough to defend low post players.

Barnes is like Terrence Jones who happened to be drafted to an actual team... The dude is just an inconsistent modern day tweener with okay defense.

Based on what? Our current roster? If so, are you projecting Plumlee at starting center and Horford at PF?

We don't even know what the rest of our roster would look like, but if all we did was add Horford and retain all our current players, Horford at center works well with either Ed Davis or Meyers Leonard at PF. That's the appeal of Horford. He's a two-way player that has a versatile offensive game. Pair him with Davis, and Horford has a good enough mid-range and long range game to let Ed operate down low. Pair him with Meyers and let Horford go to work in the low post while Meyers spreads the floor. He could work with either of those guys. With Ed, you get better defense and rebounding. With Meyers, you get more floor spacing on offense.

If we're lucky enough to get him, I see Horford as our starting center with Plumlee backing him up. It's the role Horford has played his entire NBA career, he's comfortable playing the position and he's excelled at it. He's been around long enough that his career overlapped Shaq and Yao Ming's He may be only 6'10", but he's played center against guys bigger and stronger than anyone in today's NBA. He's a four time all-star as a center.

The only reason I could see for moving him to PF at this point in his career is if you were going to pair him with a low post stud like DeMarcus Cousins or Hassan Whiteside. You don't move Horford to a new position for Mason Plumlee.

yeah its nice to dream but we have little to no chance on signing Horford, rather focus discussion on more realistic possibilities

Who are the more realistic possibilities in your opinion? Who would you target?
