What does Crabbe starting have to do with anything? You said something like Crabbe hasn't looked anywhere near as good in BKN as he did here yet he was still much better in BKN than Stauskas has ever been (including BKN). I don't understand your response.

Optimism is good, I get that... But it could be any player in the NBA and people in here would be saying they have a solid chance at helping us win playoff games. Just like we were with Anthony Morrow last year.

There was a reason he was a consensus lottery pick, and it wasn’t just because he could shoot. He has mentioned before that he prefers the ball in his hands and shooting off the dribble. He’s never had the freedom to do it in the NBA, nor has he gotten a consistent role, which is why his stats so far don’t mean much to me. At Michigan he was the go to guy, and he played on the same team as Caris LeVert and Glenn Robinson, so it wasn’t just by default. He passed. He got to the line. He didn’t turn the ball over.

Our second unit was awful last season when it came to scoring and we relied too much on CJ. Stauskas still actually has really good percentages from the corner (40%) and if given the expected freedom, could be an effective, multi dimensional scorer off the bench. Terry gives everyone freedom, even when they shouldn’t (Aminu) and it could be the confidence boost Stauskas needs to jump start his career.

If Trent beats him out, great, but they didn’t sign Stauskas to sit, or to fill out the back end of the roster imo. They have plans for him.

You know who else were lottery picks? Meyers Leonard. Thomas Robinson. Noah Vonleh. It doesn't mean anything.

He isn't athletic enough to put his ball skills to use. He was just quick enough in college to make plays for himself and others. He's not fast enough in the NBA for it to translate.

So he can't play off well the ball...? This sounds similar to the reports of what Jimmer Fredette thought... if he's more comfortable with the ball in his hands than in someone else's, yet doesn't produce much with the ball anyway, and is a bad defender too, then that's a horrible fit next to Dame and CJ.

They signed Stauskas as insurance IMO. Not every FA signing is for a guy that will see minutes.

Stauskas could be multi-dimensional? Based on what he did in college 5 years ago and because he says he likes having the ball?

I understand thinking there's a chance he could become a mediocre at best player, but to think he can become a rotation player for a playoff team is a stretch.

I knew the salty, snarky little response was coming. I won't say I didn't bait it, but it wasn't too difficult.

Yea, you should be used to people being turned off by your general attitude by now.

You asked for me to explain, I did. Then you condescendingly tell me I’m wrong. Cool. Good for you. Have a nice night.

I didnt tell you youre wrong. Do I really have to put the disclaimer "The following is my opinion" for you to not get upset?" I posted my opinion, just like you did. It's a shame people get so worked up over a difference in opinion. Relax.

I have Stauskas as our starting SF.

You know how I say that we need a true SF so badly that Olshey should just convert a 6-6 guard? He reads my posts.

People have been giving you five minutes for years (since you said the same thing about Joel Przybilla) and you've never delivered.

I guess a a decent shooter cant be a slasher (player that also looks to drive/slash to the hoop?) He seems comfortable doing both. Looks like he likes to take his guy off the dribble and slash to me.
Im not trying to make a case where he's an all star but he is an NBA caliber player in my mind.

I thought this was relatively obvious to everyone. Curry and Stauskas are on contracts where if they blow up and are great, we lose them. The only rational explanation then is that Olshey brought them in as place holders to keep the team running while Trent and Simons develop, and to test the theory that part of the failure of last year was week accessory shooters.

You are both getting a bit caught up in semantics. Stauskas has not demonstrated good slashing ability yet in the NBA. So by NBA standards at this time, he is not a slasher. But, in college he did demonstrate that, and in the future he might be able to demonstrate that. He certainly appears to have more potential in that direction than Crabbe did.

Lol. That one video convinced you he's a "slasher"?

Yeah, only if his name was Jack.
