I'm guessing if that happens McBob would be bought out.

If we traded CJ for Love and the Nets pick I wouldn’t be mad, with Love out and no CJ we would most likely have 2 top 10 picks in a loaded draft, with any luck we could get our SGOTF and SFOTF to pair with the 20 year old Collins and the 23 year old Nurk. With any luck they all develop by the time Dame’s contract is up and he stays. I think we stand a better chance becoming a contender going that rout then keeping CJ and having no way to upgrade the roster significantly. Not to mention if the 2 draft picks, Collins and Nurk all develop by year 3 all those bad contracts go off the books and we can add complimentary pieces. Just my thoughts.

Who knows or cares? I placed it as an example of a template for trades that would rate using a first.

(to take a stab, I used NYK b/c a) we know that they like at least one of our "horrible contract" players, b) Frank almost just got sent to the G-LEague and can't beat out Trey Burke, who will be cheap for them for at least 2 more years entering (age 25) his prime, or Jarrett Jack for minutes. NYK is on a similar plan that we've been talking about, getting in the players to build around their young core. Frank may be part of that soon, but isn't now. Willy isn't, and now has asked for a trade). Shabazz would immediately give them 2 good PGs (and controllable ones) and Mo would be, besides Dougie McDermott, the only SF on the roster. They have a million SGs that they're trying to dump, but they're not bumped up against the tax this year or next and can take on a bit of salary to get a pick and two players entering their prime.

But what the hell do I know? I'm just using a template.

The trick is to line up the FA spending in the summer before Year 4 of the rookies you know are going to be on big deals, but :dunno:

The McBob trade would fit into my scenario in which we say screw it and take on another bad contract to load up on future assets.

    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yahaypdb

Blazers get Luol Deng, Lakers 2020 1st round pick unprotected, and a 2022 1st round pick (top-5 protected)
Mavs get Harkless, Vonleh, future 2nd from Lakers
Lakers get Ed Davis, McRoberts, and Layman

The Blazers take on one of the worst contracts in the league but manage to duck under the tax line this year and get two future 1sts for their troubles.

NYK doesn't take that. They're high on Ntilikina. However i believe Hernangomez has borderline all-star potential. He could be very, very good. Would love to see us take a chance on him.

The thing I love about the Brooklyn pick is that it doesn't matter if the trade makes Cleveland better. That would be the worst if we traded CJ somewhere for a high pick and that team went on a nice winning streak and the pick got bumped out of the lottery.

Would you guys still do the CJ trade if we had to take Shump, JR, or Tristan back?

    Something like:
    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y96xkj5s

Plus we get the Brooklyn pick of course.

As I mentioned the other day I don't believe the Lakers are going to land LeBron or anyone that will be worth them dumping a bunch of salary for.

Yes I would because by the time Nurk/Collins/and our 2 lottery picks this year(we would be in lottery with Love not playing and no CJ)were all 25 and under(most 22) all those contracts would be expiring and we would have 4 studs under 25 and dame at 29.

Because they are the Lakers and they think they can sign anyone if they have the space.

CJ helps LeBron win a title and he stays! If LeBron leaves I think it's Houston he'd consider. Paul George stays in OKC! Lakers suck for years and we get the #1 pick in 2020 and a late lottery pick in 2022.

I do think Houston is Lebron’s destination, it’s the only way he’s gonns be able to win another title in the next 3-5 years. CP3/Harden/LBJ can beat Golden State. That’s why we should be acquiring the highest picks as we possibly can, this is the time to get elite prospects so that when GS slows down we are the next dynasty

Lmao. Why do you think they're taking half the shots and trying so hard to create for themselves...? Because their role players aren't reliable. With better role players Dame is getting 8 assists a game so its a poor assessment of him to say hes only an iso player who shoots a lot. But you seriously think Dame and CJ are a bigger issue than the fact that our starting forwards are Evan Turner and Al-Farouq Aminu???

    Smh.

Cavs should give up their pick to the wizards in that trade and we get the Nets pick like you said

    Cavs get CJ, Aminu, Davis
Blazers get Love, Thompson, BKN Pick

    Wizards get Napier
    Blazers get Oubre

I bet Lebron is getting to the point where winning another championship might be more important than signing a max on a rebuilding team

Yeah, they're not gonna dump Deng now... if they sign someone theyll do it then, if nit tjeyll jeep their picks.

You realize that the Lakers would never give up unprotected picks in the situation they're in?
