The more I read about this draft, the less optimistic I get. This seems like a good year to either grab a guy with a high floor or roll the pick over for a future pick. We really don't need another high risk/long term project.

Caveat: if the team has doubts about Nurk's future, then taking a gamble on a big man (EG the kid from USC) becomes more attractive.

Kawhi, PG, and Dame had those same questions, game is game. We will get a good look in the Tournament this season.

They could always have their 2nd round pick be one of their 2-way contracts next year too if they need a roster spot. Or draft someone that might not come over next season.

"Flair inspired by Manu Ginobili"?? I've found my guy!

Which means that the Mavs will get him.

I am starting pay more attention to college to see if anybody will jump off the screen. Watch some Villanova game last night checking out Bey he decent on offense but his premeter defense wasn't good at all.

    Against U19 competition?
    ATO of 1, 48% TS%, 29% from the field?

What is right? I know nothing about this guy. Figure that he'd do well against that level of competition, no?

Personally I haven’t seen Bolmaro play so I won’t comment on him, but what I meant by “you’re doing it wrong” is that stats are essentially meaningless when talking about prospects, since it’s purely about projection. It’s why you see guys, especially Europeans, with meh stats get picked in the first round all the time. Dont have to look further than our very own Nurkic as an example.

I get the low sample size thing for a ton of these dudes, but this guy shot 27 times in two games and hit only 8 shots against kids <19. This ins't the Euroleague.

    It's not a good start.

Yeah, I mean if he’s not owning his age group it’s a concern, but again, there’s a reason he’s getting first round hype. I haven’t seen him so I’m not sure what that reason is, but he must have a level of projectability teams/evaluators are intrigued by. Guys don’t get drafted for who they are now, especially teenagers.

That 8-27 was in 2 games in LEB Silver, which is a third-tier pro league in Spain, not in U-19 competition.

Serious Question: If we keep the pick, what position is preferred?

    The correct answer is BPA.

I don't have much hope for Moses. I'm pessimistic on Little.
I'd like to see a bit more of Hoard & Gabriel before deciding on them.

Out of the entire bunch, Zach & Gary are the only ones who are 'regular rotational' level players. Simons MAY get there, too.

Long story short, Portland is not talented enough to make the decision based on position. They need to go with the best player.

Unless that perceived "best player" is Cole Anthony. Then move on to the next best.

OK, last posting on Leandro Bolmaro for a while, before I start to piss people off. Couple of videos - he's been called up to play on Barca's first team a little bit, and its roster is not too shabby. Here's a familiar face:

And here's an amazing pass to actual NBA player Nicola Mirotic:

Euro clubs very rarely play young guys, particularly top Euroleague teams like Barca (that's why it was so obvious that Doncic was a prodigy) and they've got him playing POINT.

Physically he reminds me a lot of Brent Barry.

I knew youd fall for this guy lol.

Watched some tape on him a while ago. Looks very mediocre. Another Sergey Karasev.
