He could joke all he wants. Without MJ and Duncan, he wouldn't have any hardware.

I get sick and tired of these role players claiming greatness because they were lucky enough to be playing with the best to ever play the game

I don't look at msg boards as homework assignments so if memory fails me, thank you all for corrections. I usually thank people for doing so but really dude, I'll hang where I want to hang.

It was all done with mirth..Kerr and Perdue were down playing their roles when they interviewed. I enjoyed hearing it.

That was in reference to a discussion Mags and I had a couple of years ago. It was about a comment very similar to that.

It's weird. I used to totally hate the Bulls and especially Jordan. Most was because Jordan was so much better than Drexler and deep down I knew it. I hated that we weren't the better team either.

A long while passed and I look back at that team. I don't think there was a better team ever assembled. And Jordan was definitely the greatest player to ever play the game.

The only player even remotely close is LBJ.

PS, I don't think the 90's Blazers would have beat them either.

Yeah, I also hated the Bulls at that time. It took me a while to fully appreciate MJ, Scottie and their championship teams.

Cleveland hosted the All-Star game in 1997! What a crock.

Jordan is hands down the greatest individual to play but the Bulls were not the greatest team by a stretch. The Showtime Lakers, Bird era Celtics and for two years the Isiah Thomas led Pistons were pretty much the greatest teams assembled

I think it may be fair to add the 2008 Celtics to 'Best teams ever assembled' list... Think about it, this was their lineup:

    Rondo / Cassell
    Ray Allen / Tony Allen
    Pierce / Posey
    Garnett / Big Baby
    Perkins / PJ Brown

Not without prime Sabonis. Get him in the NBA in 1989 and you have a conversation.

Well yeah! Even the Sabas we had in the late 90's would work

Problem with these stat driven lists in my opinion is it does not matchup different eras head to head. I still think the Showtime Lakers would beat the Bulls in their prime. Too many mismatches for Jordan and Pippen to counter. BJ Armstrong trying to guard Magic would have been embarassing as would Luc Longley trying to guard Jabbar

If I ever find a time machine the first thing I will do is get all of the NBA's greats together to play each other in a tournament in their prime. The top players according to a combination of statistical achievement and championship wins will be designated team captains. They would then select team mates school yard style. Finally the teams would vote to select any coach in NBA history for their head coach. The order of this will be determined by a 1 on 1 double elimination tournament between 1 player from each team. Each series would be best out of 7.

I say we have them fight it out in a series of MTV's NBA Celebrity Death Matches!

Worthy, Baylor, Magic, Green, Perkins, Scott, Rambis...that showtime team was deep. In that team's prime, the Bulls would've had trouble winning a best of 7.
