I just saw the Whiteside post game interview on NBAtv and he said "just trying to get my NBA2K rating up".

    That is full of win!

Another example why you don't give up too early on young bigs. SAC drafted this guy in the second round and let him walk for nothing. I know they have DeMarcus Cousins, but still, giving this guy away for nothing wasn't exactly a good move for a franchise that's in constant rebuild mode. On the other hand, giving away a guy like this for nothing is yet another reason they are in constant rebuild mode.

And, this guy is having a breakout season at 25, after toiling in the D League for two years. Other than the blocks, which are truly amazing and not sustainable, his other per/36 numbers are quite similar to 22-year old Meyers Leonard...

Mystery solved. Management is under rated, and the Kings management is among the worst. Also on that list Houston, Charlotte, Oklahoma City, Clevaland and Brooklyn.

The Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets have re-opened trade talks with the focus on guards Joe Johnson and Lance Stephenson, according to Yahoo! Sports

The thing with Whiteside is he was also a very immature idiot. Sometimes it pays to be patient and you get what he had done these last few weeks. Sometimes you hang on and hang on and the immature idiot never has it click and you wasted years and money.

You can't really fault Sacto for giving up on Whiteside when no one else gave him a shot for two years. It's not like Kings brass are the only ones who saw little in him. Miami had gaping holes to fill and he made the most of the opportunity. Making any more of it than that and you're letting bias cloud your judgement.

Also, there were a lot of people saying similar things about Lin a couple years back, but no one's looking like an idiot for letting him go nowadays. Even the Rockets who were supposed to be dead in the water with his loss... Let's see what Whiteside can sustain.

    Today's combined trade is...

2/24/11 We gave Tobias Harris, Dante Cunningham, Shabazz Napier, Joel Przybilla, Sean Marks, and cash (the Paul Allen advantage).

3/15/12 We got Damian Lillard, 1 year of Gerald Wallace, Mehmet Okur, and Shawne Williams.

That's a bizarre reversal of fortune stat. When the first six teams in NBA history to win 36 of 42 nab the title, you would think it's pretty safe money betting on at least one of the next two to also do so. I'd be semi-surprised if the Warriors win it all this year, so that could make three straight counter-examples.
