Lol, a foul is a foul guys. Even if it is selling contact it is still a foul. No silly willy wonka reference or or meme will stop a foul from being a foul.

Meanwhile, the Spurs do this on a nightly basis. You guys think Harden is bad? I guess many have not watched Tony Parker play basketball, or Kobe, or any other player who practically yells "HEEYY!" every time they drive. Harden doesn't even do that :P

But again, I know it's pointless going on a opposing forum who hates the team and player to admit that hey...the guy gets legit calls too.

Also, you're going to the forum of a team that is well below average in FTAs per FGA (Free Throws account for 18.8% of Houston's total points; they account for 15.8% of Portland's total points), and trying to tell us that every time the opponent gets fouled it's legit while Dame is getting shafted by the refs nightly.

Might be a tough sell there, Herman.

Dude James harden would have bowled over if Lance Stephenson blew in his ear. It's not selling contact, it's acting like you got shot by a .45 when someone's pinky grazes your beard.

Not my problem, I don't know if he gets shafted every night. Howard certainly does, Howard gets fouled pretty much every time he touches the ball. Guys are trying to foul Dwight because you may has well, not like he'd make the FTs you'd give him so play him tough and dare the refs to whistle it every time.

Pretty tough sell to me and any other Rocket fan as well. So that's that I guess.

Hey believe what you want to I guess, I could show you full highlights of James (This is every play, whether he bricks the shot, airballs, throws a pass out of bounds...whatever.) and you could decide on your own if he's flopping every time he's touched. Really is pointless though, you all think he flops (excessively) and some even think that's his entire game and I came in because a poster asked how could Rocket fans enjoy it.

I guess the same way Spurs fans have enjoyed watching Manu and Parker every year and how Laker fans have enjoyed Kobe and his "AYY!" every season too. Fans will be fans. Fans always think the other team is full of floppers too, whether it is true or not I guess.

So I'm researching our best lane driver (Dame) versus Harden, and I notice some things:

Damian shoots 26.1% of his shots at 0-3 feet (driving the mufuggin' lane!); Harden shoots 27.7% from 0-3 feet. Pretty comparable (1.6% difference). In real life, this equates to Dame driving about 4x a game, and Harden driving about 5x a game (because Harden shoots much more than Dame)

Dame's Free Throw Rate (FTs per FGA) is 31.0%; Harden's is 53.3% A 22 percentage point difference. That means in a game, Dame gets 1 call on his 4 drives, maybe 2 every few games. Harden gets between 2 and 3 calls on his 5 drives every game.

Harden shoots 4.7 more free throws per 36 minutes (9.2 vs 4.5) than Dame. If Dame shot even 2 more free throws a game, he'd jump to 9th in scoring at 22 points per game.

So, if a foul is a foul, and all teams foul all driving NBA stars at the same rate... why do the refs call fouls for Harden SO MUCH MORE than for Dame?

Let's talk about driving and how fouls are fouls now.

Also, Harden's shooting under 40% from the field this year. It's pretty pathetic.

And I could show you 8 videos where he flops with little to no contact. But we already did that, and you still don't think there is anything wrong with it.

You haven't really had to worry about that the last few games; the child-beater has been out, yeah? Mystery injury...?

Dunno, I don't watch Dame enough to really say. If you guys say he gets shafted a lot I really have nothing to debate with you there. I really have no evidence to refute that and that's pretty strong evidence that maybe he should go to the line more.

I do know Harden drives with his arms out nearly every time and guys are always slapping his arms. He does this nearly every time in fact coaches have been quoted as warning that he does this. Not that it is illegal or a cheap move, just to be wary that Harden has his arms out baiting with the ball. The Rockets coaches, can't remember who said that it was a testament to Harden because when he does this and guys slap at the ball were complimenting him because of how tight of a grip he has on the ball as to not lose it constantly when doing this.

Not a mystery injury, he injured his knee earlier in the season. sat out some games...played some games with knee pads and the Rockets thought it better to sit him out. Meanwhile, Harden and his under 40% has kept the Rockets on pace with the rest of the West and is still solidly in the MVP race because most people understand how all-around his game is that he doesn't have to shoot well to play a great game.

Nope, I said this is hardly a a Harden problem because it is a league wide problem. If the league got rid of flopping I wouldn't...not one bit...be worried about how it would affect Harden. I wonder how many of those vids are of this year too. I think Harden has cut a lot of those antics out this year. Maybe someone can provide a gif or video to prove me wrong but I've not seen any of the silly flops this year from him. Just all out hustle, all out drive to help his team win any game he can. Which was different from last year admittedly so.

You don't have to shoot well if you shot a metric fuckton. 3rd in the league for FG attempts, only 14th in the league for made FG's. As long as you lead the league in ref-assisted points (FTs made and attempted), you're just fine.

Remember, you can't make a free throw unless a ref was involved. Harden should make sure to say "they the REAL MVP" when he makes his speech.

Pathetic. Harden's down in the "washed up Kobe" area of this list.

We have a player shooting exactly as bad as Harden (Batum) and he's getting savaged in a thread dedicated to savaging him because he shoots so poorly. I can't imagine the reaction to him suddenly taking 18 shots a night! And you put up with this as a fan?! Atrocious!

Harden is also 4th in win shares, behind CP3, Curry, and Davis
    10th in Steals
    6th in Assists

Not sure what that list even means. I guess you think Vucevic is better than Harden and Dirk. FG% is a horrible stat to tell you the value of a player. In fact if I were a Harden hater I'd be terrified because his FG% is usually higher so trends and averages would say that his FG% will rise, in fact since the Memphis game where he shot horrible his FG% has been climbing.

Still it's just FG% and no one would put much stock in that stat alone.

Oh, and his team is 12-4 (Same record as your team...) all while missing 2+ starters for most of year. So you know just like how your team is 12-4, that's how I can put up with it. (EDIT: Or rather 13-4, but the losses are what counts)

With the way Houston fans whined about the officiating in "clutch fans", could you imagine if Harden was on another team?! They would be boycotting the NBA!

It's funny when it's their player that flops. They think it's totally fine. But we all know they would be so pissed watching someone else doing it. That's a fact

Did the Around the NBA morph into a Rockets/James Harden thread?

Seems more like something that was stuck in that nappy beard fell out into our forum. I'd tell him to go to the Rockets forum, but they have no real fans.
