I can’t remember a player that I was really as high on as NAS. Being a later pick my expectations were realistic, but I just really thought with that type of body he was going to thrive in the league. Huge game….injured for a month…..huge game……injured for 2 weeks…… sigh

So does this go in the WIN column for Cronin then? Knowing when to cut guys loose?

The reality of the NBA is if you can stay healthy and play decent defense the difference between a 28-29% 3 point shooter and a 35-37% 3 point shooter is about one more made 3 a week.
22 weeks and an extra 22 made threes is worth millions of dollars.

Oh, I assumed Joe would get credit for packaging a constantly injured, underperforming player out of town in exchange for a valuable piece and then said player is out of the league 18 months later. No? Loss?

no...it was Cronin that gave Little a 4-year contract paying 7M/year. And that was after it was clear what Little's flaws were and that he would have lots of trouble staying healthy. So that's a negative. If you want to give Cronin credit for that 7M 'tradable' salary as off-setting the 2nd contract, that's fine. No win, no loss

If Joe was the GM of let’s say the Lakers then yes but unfortunately he is the Blazers GM and that kind of praise is not really customary in these parts.

Getting rid of an overpaid injury prone player for a valuable asset is not a win? I just need to make sure I get where you are coming from. Seems like a HUGE WIN for me.

what is the valuable asset that Portland got specifically for Little?

In case you're forgetting, Portland traded Dame and Nurkic. Any valuable assets that returned were because of those two players; not Little. He was just salary filler like Keon Johnson. I'm not even sure if his salary was necessary filler

I assume that it'll makes him eligible for either UFA or supermax extension sooner than most young players on their second contract. The way I see it, he basically traded a bigger guarantee for earlier flexibility, gambling on himself for the potential of a much bigger 3rd deal.

Does this also work with Crocs? Because if so, the entirety of Gen-Z and Alpha is safe.
