Doc Rivers was hired to win a title. Instead, he won one more game than Del Negro's last team, and flamed out in the WC Semis just like Del Negro did in 2011-12.

I call bullshit. 5 fouls in 13 minutes of play is a lot for Meyers Leonard or Joel Freeland, let alone LeBron James. The NBA wanted the TV revenue from a Game 6, and the best way to try and get a Game 6 is to keep the best player in the world out of the game as much as possible. Call every ticky-tack foul, turn a no-call or a block into 2 offensive fouls, and Indy had a chance.

If you're referring to the charge call on LBJ that Paul George beat him to the spot and LBJ dropped his shoulder to create space then well...... idk what game I was watching.
his fourth and fifth fouls were both legit fouls on him. did lance Stevenson foul LBJ by putting his hands around his waste yes. did LBJ foul lance Stevenson three times after that on that play? yes.
lbj admitted to the 4th foul.

Not going to continue to break down the calls.

    Agree to disagree.

Ticky-tacky or not a foul is a foul.
Superstar, best player in the game today. a foul is a foul.

acting like lbj isn't protected at all. didn't the announcers (great source) say LBJ has only fouled out of ONE game as a heat player and that happened this year?
I don't watch all the heat games because I don't like that team. But if that's the case... Yes clearly LBJ doesn't get the treatment.

Funny story. I pretty much sat right next to (under) the ESPN crew last night. A guy sitting near me brought Simmons's book and threw it up to him to sign, which he signed "This looks well read". Simmons may sound like a douche sometimes, but I thought that was pretty cool of him.

    cool story bro.
but I'm sure signing his book from a fan wasn't a pre-requisite of getting that job.
He needs to stfu about superstar players not getting favorable calls.
    A foul is a foul
or should I find the video of the lakers vs blazers that was plastered all over Blazer forums last year?

MVPs rarely foul out of games. I don't recall Jordan ever getting 5 fouls in 13 minutes of play in an elimination game for the other team, either. Agree to disagree, definitely. Every single time down the court Stephenson could be called for putting his hands on the perimeter ballhandler. Those are technically fouls, too, yet the refs didn't call them last night when he has his hands all over James past the 3-point line. I know people hate James, but let's not pretend that him getting 5 fouls in 13 minutes was at all legitimate in today's NBA. The NBA needed to get some TV ad revenue from this round, since the semifinal series were mostly garbage and lop-sided. Plus, the sponsors who pay for the commercials want to get some bang for their buck, too.

    Odd?

Neither ESPN.go.com nor NBA.com have a box score available online right now of the OKC/Spurs game.

    That's still a thing?

ESPN is back online, too. Must have been a server issue from the NBA.

your right handchecking is a foul that should be called too. but it hasn't been called in these playoffs consistently unfortunately. see Pactrick Beverly, see Chris Paul, see Reggie Jackson, see Clay Thompson(to name a couple).
But neither has lane violations. Well unless Jermaine O'Neil is involved.

I just like seeing fouls called on players when they're fouls. superstar or not. I don't hate BronBron never had any hate on him for leaving Cleveland. Just like I don't hate Kobe or Garnett like most Portland fans do. I actually love Garnett as a player and his intensity level one of my fav players in the NBA. Liked Garnett when I was a teenager.

Maybe the NBA did fix the game. But I don't think so.

I'm not saying that touching a player isn't a foul. My point is that James was called for fouls last night that weren't playoff fouls. You do agree that Stephenson was literally fouling James on the perimeter? Because at that point, it becomes about discretion, and my point is that the refs were looking to call fouls on James last night. I wonder if LeBron gets a secret bonus for going along with the act and playing the fool?

I suppose, but I'm not really sure how they can deem PG going for 21 points in the 4th quarter as a conspiracy/fix. Without his 21 points in the 4th there is no way the Pacers win that game even with LBJ in foul trouble the whole night.
Pretty hard to convince me also the steals PG/Stevenson had were part of the conspiracy also...

Yes Hand checking should be called period. It's a rule in the NBA that it's illegal. But it's not called at all. Hell I watched Beverly hand check Lillard on EVERY possession. It's supposed to be a foul. but it's never called, playoffs or regular season. They should just eliminate the rule because it's just not called.

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy that George made a ton of shots. I'm saying it's suspect that the most optimal way for the Pacers to be able to try and win Game 5 was to get Lebron James into foul trouble. That's what happened. It's not about a conspiracy that lets Indiana win. It's about creating a game situation that gives Indiana the best chance of having a chance to win the game. Calling 5 fouls on Lebron James in 13 minutes of play seems very obvious to me. It's never happened in his career prior to last night.

James does those same things every night he plays, yet last night he's suddenly called for the fouls? Come on. I know you're at least a bit skeptical of how he ended up on the bench.

That was really bizarre. For those who missed it, Kerr said something about there being a high probability that they would be back in San Antonio for a game seven. Albert and Miller gave Kerr some shit about it and Kerr got pissed off. Then they argued. And argued some more. And argued some more. And some more. Albert just wouldn't let it die, even after Miller tried to get out of the whole uncomfortable mess.

In the meantime, there was a basketball game going on. Guys were dunking, fouling, shooting, and those three were having a pissing match over semantics.

We should invite them to join the board! :)

That was something, wasn't it? It's like Marv's 33rpm got stuck in a rut.
