Guys always get paid on the premise of their potential. I don't think anybody doubts Rubio will get a big contract. That doesn't mean he'll ever be anything more than he is. I don't think we need to list examples of this because there are so, so, so many.

Rubio is a tantalizing player. If he could shoot 44%, he'd be pretty damn solid. But until he does that, while he does good things on the floor, his lack of shooting ability offsets many of the good things he does on the floor. What good is it to be a good passer with good visibility if the other team can allow their defense to cheat because the PG can't shoot for shit? People throw out Jason Kidd, but Rubio makes Kidd look like a good shooter.

That being said, I don't know what we have in CJ yet. But would I rather have CJ than Rubio? For our team as it is constructed, yes. Especially when we have a better PG , albeit a very different type of PG on our roster. I still think Rubio would be a better player if he were on a team whose star player wasn't a black hole PF that shoots from anywhere and everywhere. If Minnesota is able to obtain more offensive star power around Rubio, I could see him benefitting greatly, and it making him look like he's a much better player than he really is.

I like CJ, but I would definitely take Rubio over CJ right now. I think Rubio would be awesome as a backup point guard, but I don't think he'll ever go for that kind of role. He'd be great with our second unit though. Can you imagine Rubio with Barton and Robinson?

I think you're right -- Rubio would not go for a backup role, or backup salary. That's one reason why I'd stick with CJ.

I'd rather have Mo Williams at back-up PG for this roster. Rubio can't create his own shot, and the Blazer bench isn't exactly full of scoring threats.

Well, (in imaginary trade land) if we acquired Rubio I would try to add another scorer off the bench to fill that void left by Mo.

Gorgui Dieng is finally getting PT and kicking ass! I SAID we should have drafted him!

(Of course, I also said that about Dennis Schroeder.)

I also said it about Andre Roberson, another guy who's finally getting minutes late in the season, and seems to be helping the Thunder. Kind of odd that they're starting him at SG, when he can't shoot at all (can he?) But there aren't any shots after Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka get theirs, I suppose.

I love that the Wolves beat the Heat last night and lost to Orlando tonight! Wonder if Heat fans were freaking out like some of the nut jobs on here? I love the NBA!

    How lucky is HOU?

Den is up 2 with the ball and a few seconds left (after making a ridiculous comeback in the second half to take a double digit lead), and Randy Foye (a great shooter) misses a FT. Then, Harden comes down knocks down yet another BS three to force OT. And HOU takes over in OT.

Almost identical to their game against us. Sometime soon that luck will run out-- hoping it's in the playoffs.

Yeah at some point (not just DEN but the whole damn league) you'd think about putting a man in front of Harden up above the 3 line. Seriously, make him take a 2 mid range (I don't _think_ he shoots 12-15 nearly as good as it seems he shoots threes)...Let him drive around you so long as he's inside the 3 line. Help D can help at the Rim, who's he going to kick to? Lin?....I think you plan for that and make sure to rotate over on Lin for a contested shot or he kicks to ANYONE else you are ok with taking a shot on you.

At this point I think whoever we play in the west is a crapshoot. We have a good road record. Sometimes picking out the baddest guy on the playground and knocking him out early is the way to go.

I'll certainly take our road record, however, of the 8 teams in the playoff picture (as of today) We have the second worst road record.

Rockets aren't good on the road either, so that's good.

True, but it also needs to be put into context.

    San Antonio 29-9
    OKC 23-14
    LAC 23-17
    Houston 20-17
    Blazers 22-18
    GS 22-16
    Dallas 22-17
    PHX 20-17

Other than the Spurs, the other teams are all within 4 losses of each other on the road, and they all have more road games left than Portland, who only has one.
