This franchise had a 5 year drought before Roy, Aldridge and Oden. Since then 13 years and 2 times not in playoffs. Bad teams get good players. It’s how we got Walton, Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Dame and even CJ. Better GM in place and CP3 would have been ours.

As it sits right now, the fans of this team have zero to look forward to next season

Understand the game first then post. You have to at least pretend salaries match!

Ben Simmons is getting absolutely torched on Inside the NBA.

Doc Rivers also not exactly giving a glowing review.

Only interested in Simmons if MDA is coach and he’s moved to center.

He was exposed because he’s not a real PG. Ben with Dame as the PG, totally different discussion.

You either get Ben and play him at C, or get Ben and play him at PF and find a C like Brook Lopez (or if Zach can come back and play).

The hardest thing to do would be to convince this guy to take a wide open 3. But otherwise, Ben with Dame/Norm/Covington/Zach is comparative to this current Bucks team. You have to at least give it a shot especially with his trade value so low. I personally don’t think we could ever get more assets ON TOP of Ben for CJ, but if other assets are offered, you have to so it. CJ/DJJ -> Ben/Curry, if that’s even remotely possible, do it.

Morey built an entire squad around the ISO god Harden, I’m pretty sure he would want McCollum.

Buy low, sell high. Simmons is about as low as he's going to get right now, and if we can get him for CJ, especially if we keep Powell, I think we gotta do that. Start him with Dame/Powell/Covington/Nurk... three good perimeter shooters, two good ballhandlers, two very good defenders, and finally some decent size in the lineup? Sign me up.

I will say that a small market team hidden way up in the PNW with probably the best leader and shooter in the game(top 2) might be the perfect spot for Ben to regain some confidence.

Simmons would also fill the absolute hole of backup point guard. Seeing how many games were lost because of our bench, specifically the lack of another true lead guard, yes please sign me up.

yeah, he's the kind of player they need. They struggle scoring the ball this will be Morey's second year coming up, expect big changes in the back court.

Simmons had 13 assists tonight with 8 boards and played good D. He can guard 4 positions and would start at PF IMO.
Plus he could play back up PG. He would be a disaster in a Terry Stotts offense, (or D'Antoni) but as long as he can improve his free throw shooting he would be fine. A lot of shit FT shooters improved over time.

No, he is not ideal on offense, but he is an all-NBA defender. We could use that.

Doesn’t matter if he is an all NBA defender and playmaker if he isn’t in the game. (Which he can’t be at the end of games. See his ass on the bench tonight?)

It works both ways, you can have a guard that iso's and is a decent scorer but doesnt play great D, and a player that plays good D and is reluctant to shoot and bad at the FTL.

It’s not, but it’s also a little ridiculous to think they’ll give up 2 of the 3 guys on their team that were All-NBA defense, one of which is only in his second year, when the best guy that’s going back to them has yet to be an All Star or make All-NBA. Ben’s value has tanked, but’s it’s tanked in the sense that you wouldn’t have to give up multiple 1sts to get him. It hasn’t tanked to the point where he’s treated like Westbrook or Kemba and they’d be giving you multiple assets to take him.

Id play him at the four and post him up. I would let him dominate the ball as a pg.

sounds like a fair deal when each side thinks they need to give up more.

Portland would also be taking on an extra $30M in that deal btw.

That’s probably the move. Wish D’Antoni would consider a defensive coordinator, but I remember stuff about him not wanting to bring in Tom Thibbadeau to be defensive coordinator in Phoenix. But with Powell/Covington/Simmons all having the reputation of being solid to elite defenders, that should be enough to keep us afloat without one right? But we’ve seen D’Antoni take his star guards to a new level before and for some reason, I think Simmons at C in a D’Antoni system would thrive.

What is this D’Antoni shit, why is everyone assuming he’s the favorite?
