I 'm gonna go on record as opposing a CJ for Simmons trade. I think we can do better.

The thing I like about Simmons is that he understands his limitations. Giannis on the other hand has put up a couple hundred 3 pt shots each of the last 2 years. (At 30%.) Simmons was 3-10 this year (Also 30%) Giannis is often in the running for the league's MVP. I think Giannis is better but by how much? I am not seeing a huge difference between the two.

Blazer fans have been begging for a player like Simmons for a few years now.
a 6'11" player who can handle the ball like a good PG and defend every position? I am talking myself into loving the possibility. Even if he can't shoot.
I like the option of closing out games with him and 4 shooters. (Dame, Simons, NP, and Roco (Or Little or Collins if either can take a step forward next year)

We can't even do that well - Morey is going to wait for the hubbub to die down and people will remember what Simmons CAN do as well as what he can't.

Ben Simmons averages 14/7/7 with a PER of 18
Giannis averages 28/11/6 with a PER of 29.
Giannis is so much better than Ben Simmons that … I don’t even know where to begin. It’s not even a comparison really.
And despite Giannis jacking 3s, he still has a better TS% than Simmons who supposedly understands his limitations.
    Defensively they’re about equal.
Offensively Giannis is so far superior (1 less assist, much higher usage, but also turns the ball over less) that it’s a wide gulf between the two.

So you think people are gonna forget this whole thing in a couple months? Highly, highly doubtful.
And if they’re trading him based on what he CAN do, then they’ll get a package that is in line with CJ. Rather than Harden or Kawhi.

they're different players. this is an apples-oranges.

the guy to compare Ben to is Draymond. Giannis is a guy you can run an offense through-- that's not Simmons, not now anyway.

Simmons at center is much better in theory than practice...at least from what we've seen so far.

Doesn't box out and not an instinctive rim protector. Best defensive trait is still his ability to switch and guard smaller players.

If we somehow end up with Ben, I do like him alongside Zach leading bench units.

Well, I just want two-way players. So I don't want CJ or Simmons.

Roco, Simmons, and the mythical healthy Collins would be a fun 3 big rotation.

I'd still do Simmons for CJ in a heartbeat

So you prefer an average 2 way player vs a great one-way player? Because you are not getting someone who is great at both.

My eyeballs tell me different. Simmons is 24 and a 3-time all-star. Both are great on defense ((all NBA defensive team)) and neither is great in a half-court offense. I agree that Giannis is better but soooooo much better? I don't see it.

Well it isn't like Giannis is dependable on offense in crunch time. But yes I do realize he is much more aggressive on offense and has better stats.
