He sucker punched a guy and then backed away really fast.. but he still thought he was tough. Absolute punk.
Normally I'm, like, "C'mon... it's not that big of a deal." But that's a big deal. Wow. I'm not at all embarrassed, but he should be suspended by the Ducks and maybe kicked off the team. He's lucky if he doesn't get arrested for assault. That was terrible. Was the guy he knocked out saying something about "ass whooping"? Maybe that's a lesson for people not to talk trash, too, after winning... Ed O.
Even though I predicted it, I am embarassed. Blount is a joke, and Masoli didn't look close to being a Pac 10 caliber QB. I can't think of a single positive.
...if the Chip / Mike B. / Phil Knight / Nike have any decency, then they should throw him off the team for his antics of trying to punch anyone and everyone that looked his way. That was a disgrace.
Well Mike Belotti will make his first decision as AD (I'm sure he's made other decisions, but this is a big decision) by either suspending and kicking Blount off the team.
I was actually in court here locally a few months ago for expired tags. And guess who was there with me for driving with music too loud in the car? No joke, it was Blount. It's kind of surreal seeing him do this...
I sort of understood the first punch he threw, the BSU guy was out of line even though the response was over the top, but going after a fan (however drunk/insulting/idiotic) is never okay. I'd guess they'll suspend him a few games, but there is an outside chance he'll be kicked off the team completely. I expect some stupidity from dumb jocks and doubly so when it's football, but that was very ugly and on national TV. Too bad for Boise too. STOMP
As a student at the U of O I will be upset if he's not kicked off the team. We're a stoner university and we do not like violence--we want PEACE MAN! haha
Condolences to you Duck fans -- that had to suck. For what it's worth, they kicked the Beavs pretty good the last time OSU played there too.
Agreed. That whole sequence at the end of the game was pathetic and embarrassing. As hard as it may seem though, I do take some positives away from this game: - Given the circumstances, our defense did a fantastic job. If you would've told me Boise St would only score 19, then I would've laughed and said it was a blowout. I know the Broncos shot themselves in the foot 100 times, but given the time of possession and how poorly our offense performed, I thought they did very well. - LaMichael (sp?) James seemed pretty solid during his few touches. It's a good thing too; I think we're going to need him for at least the next game or two, maybe more. - Nice to see we have a very solid freshman punter. I know that will cause some chuckles, but a solid punting game can make a WORLD of difference in many games.
One thing to consider is that the President of the Pac-10 was in the audience. He's probably the last guy you want to make look bad (outside of your team/coach). Kind of like how David Stern was present during that Knicks/Bulls fight a decade ago, and the Pistons/Pacers fight. Wait, I think he was there for the Pacers/Pistons fight.
My torts prof in law school was curious about how a punch thrown in a sporting event generally yields nothing but a slap on the wrist, while the same punch thrown on a street would be assault. He said sporting events seemed to have a zone around them where players could get away with a lot. That punch might've crossed the line -- from a legal perspective, it'll be interesting to see if the local cops/prosecutor do anything about that.
The offense looked confused and under prepared. If Kelly doesn't show some significant improvements in week two, I would seriously consider looking for another option at the head coaching position. Either that, or a new OC.
I don't think it's possible or fair to be looking for a new head coach after a couple of weeks. Kelly's been waiting to take over and the university has too much riding on him succeeding in the LONG run to worry overmuch about his first month, no matter how badly it might go. Ed O.
Blount should get a medal. That sucker punch was about the only thing the Ducks executed correctly tonight. And then, of course, he should get suspended or kicked off the team.
