OK so I haven't read anybody's thread but I just had some thoughts. What happen to the three attempt rule. Remember when druggy from N.O. had about twenty attempts. I never thought I would see the basketball world be held at hostage like that again. Even Magic said Nate needed to just go put it in the basket. Nate had some imaginative dunks. I could not believe he tried the J.Rich of the backboard between the legs dunk. That was worth it just to see him try. The double between the legs would have been crazy the first time. Iggy's behind the backboard is the newest great. When he first hit his head and lost the ball, I was like WTF was that. Then when he did it, it was so original. Thats a great horse shot. Maybe somebody will do it off the back by themselves and go under. Maybe next yr. for him. Other than Josh trying the V.C. two handed foul line, I don't remember seeing a lot of dunks with hang time. I wanted to see Iggy try to catch as much air as he could from somewhere way out on the floor. Putting the ball behind your back is hard, but flying like JORDAN can always shut it down. If he would have done something like that he would have won. I think a new Format for the Dunk Contest should be voted on by fans. Here's mine. As I thought about it, I think they are the COLLEGE dunk contest rules. 35 second shot clock first round 25 second round 3 attempts on last dunk Judges are the most retired participants you can find. They had Better judges this year than in past years. The only true judges you can have are the ones that were good at dunking. Whats easier than that. And what about, barring injury the NBA actually letting the fans vote for the participants. Thats what everybody really wants. Make limit on obligation of veterans, but what would be better from a fans standpoint if the events are truly for the fans. Who doesn't want to see Lebron in it.
Yeah, like I said, they got rid of the "two-attempt" rule this year, for some reason, so that explains why Nate got so many attempts. As for how to improve the dunk contest, I think the best way would be to define the guidelines for judging, that way atleast the fans, and the judges, know what to base their scores on. Also, shape's suggestion about the "touch-screen" judging is great too. That way judges cannot confer with one another, and they cannot change their scores. I like the shot-clock idea as well. Don't they have that in the McDonalds high school dunk competition too?

Because I started liking basketball when I was in NYC/PR, since there are no NBA teams in Puerto Rico...I picked the Knicks, there were the most interesting at the time, especially in 99-00, Sprewell was one of my favorite guys in the league. I recently moved into Central Florida. but NYC, PR, Miami are places I visit yearly, so yeh 3 of the best worlds.
