Yao was at one point 7-15 before going 0-6 in the deciding minutes of the game. Anderson jacked up too many shots for a player who doesn't have the hot hand, and Juwan Howard's turnovers were depressing. This team looks lost without McGrady and the last thing we need is TMac is pull a Bob Sura by heroically returning early from injury to help his team win some games.
Ugh same ol' Rockets... cant close out games...up by 8 midway thru the 4th and then we let the Hornets close the game on a 17-2 run...horrible... I have NEVER, EVER seen defense this poor or apathetic by a team coached by Jeff Van Gundy...too many easy layups, wide open shots, etc...our rebounding is horrible...Its not like the Hornets are an awesome offensive unit, but our guys just arent trying out there...its laughable...
yao is affected by the fight, otherwise we would win this game.1-9 in 4th qt. is not real yao.I guess this is his first big fight,he will learn something from this.

He should have been rested in more intervals. Yao played the entire 4th quarter i think.
Yeah, fatique too.I don't know why JVG didn't rest him when he missed the first 3 shots, yao could use 1 mins rest then come back to finished the game better. ARR..tough loss,I really wanted the Rox win this game after that fight, but no one could make the shots....we need T-mac badly.

While T-mac is gone, we have a very tough schedule this month. Spurs, Miami, Detriot and Indiana, Dallas and Phoenix all within the next three weeks. This doesn't look good at all.

Yao played great today. That is until he got tired. He did a great job rebounding and blocking(7). But he struggled in the 4th qtr because Tracy wasn't there. In the 4th qtr you always want the ball in the hands of your best player. That way he can make it easier for everyone else. We all know that's T-Mac. So today Yao had to be the leader but just couldnt do it. Hopefully Yao will learn from this because he will still have to lead this team without T-Mac. Yao really wasnt affected by the fight. He was more fired up actually. He got upset when Mason toppled him over. But I don't think that's why he went 1-9. Yao played 36 minutes with a great running team. Im actually impressed he didn't collapse. So Yao is able to play long minutes, but I think the fact that it was a faster team like the Hornets made his shot a little shorter. And one more thing. Did anyone notice Chris Anderson trying to flop everytime somebody boxed him out? Haha, he only got the call once on Mutombo though. Man I hate that guy, and im not really sure why. Maybe its because he wasted a spot in the Slam Dunk Contest last year, haha. Houston should ban him from any activities this year.
OK,maybe it is just me,but I think after that "fight",he still think too much about it,he just wanted score quickly during that 1-9 in 4th qt to prove something. when he could post up some or draw some fouls. And if that didn't affected him emontionally,it could affact him physiquely,I mean he landed on the court on his shoulder really hard, and that could lead to some bad shots I think. Again, that was just what i thought, maybe he just had an off-night.He still played great though.
^^^ i agree... he rushed his shot at the 4th quarter. that could be one reason it affected yao or hes tired...
We still should've beat the Nooki last night, but I'm not too worried about it considering we didn't have our finisher (Tmac).......Am I the only one that would like to see Head get more minutes than Wesley????.......I mean I like Dave, but dude's shot is in another planet somewhere........Swift played good the first half, but the 2nd half he got too many silly fouls and he never found a groove.........I think while Tmac is out that Alston might have to look to be more of a scorer and go to guy down the stretch.
Yeah it was pretty bad loss. But I look at it different than most of you. Some teams just give other teams problems. New Orleans is probably the quickest team n the league, they probably played the BEST game of they're soon to be mediocore season. Us on the other hand, played good up until the last 5 minutes. We had the lead, but got fatigued while New Orleans NEVER slowed down. They NEVER got tired, which they shouldn't because they're so young. As far as the altercation, I thought that was very troubling. When you know your best player is not the toughest guy, and somebody body slams him, your supposed to knock him upside his head. We all know Yao is a super nice guy and the last thing he wants to do is throw blows. Juwan Howard took a tech, but where was DA, David Wesley, or Rafer. They should have got in there pushed Mason or something. I think the Rockets have too many nice guys, and not enough villans. Somebody like Kenyon Martin that will str8 knock you into next year if you cross him or his teammates. That's what builds trust with teammates.
^^^LOL....I think this team is plenty of tough, I'm glad no one clocked Mason (don't need any suspensions with tmac out).....I thought Yao did him in enough by making him land on his ass when he swatted the hell outta his dunk......I do like Yao's aggressive nature so far this season.
The team is full of smart veterans. They know that fighting will get you suspended. Unlike the young NO team. You always feel invincible when you're young so that's why they didnt think before they reacted. Juwon was trying to seperate the guys so nothing would happen, even though he did it a little rough. The Rockets dont need villains to beat up another guy if he messes with his teammate. They need tough guys like T-Mac. Players that will make a big play and then rub it in your face afterwards.
I wonder if Stern saw the wat mason did to yao..... anyway... luther wasn't scared of showing his skills when he played.. whenever david was here i would always cross my fingers hoping he doesn't screw it up... his defense isn't good either especialy at the last minute...he went to help the point guard which let paul be open for the mid range floater.. david isn't quick enought to go back to paul and guard him so it was basicaly a gimme... plus he made the same mistake twice in a row... then we were losing by 5 and he misses a 3.. which is the game right there... right now david is useless.. last year we needed his defense and his 3 point ability but every single of those abilities are gone.. BRIGHT SIDE: DAVID WESLEY CONTRACT ENDS NEXT SUMMER....
Well you could argue that the loss could kinda be blamed on Yao, if you wanted to find a valid scapegoat. Yao let the 37 year old PJ Brown hit 8-14 shots, while Yao shot only 8-22 and 1-9 in the last quarter. Yao could have distributed the ball to other players, dunno why he didn't. And he was setting for midrange turnaround shots, I think he shot have went in and been more aggressive. Too bad I didn't know anything about the fight. Still angry about the loss.
The reason he was taking those turnarounds late in the game, was because he was tired....you could tell by his positioning the post....he wasn't looking to back down, because all of his energy was gone.
