<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Phreeze:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm not talking about any half or quarter, overall he was looking to shoot almost the whole game. I don't like him taking all the shots even if they're all falling. First off it gets your teammates out of the game offensively, and once you do start missing the team usually has offensive struggles. He's been great with the left hand and the bank shots, but he really relied on it way too much tonight, and it wasn't falling. I would definitely agree that I wouldn't want the ball in Shaq's hands in the final seconds because of freethrows, but we needed to get Gary involved offensively too. This guy was a big time clutch scorer for years and did average 20ppg until this year ya know.. He also wasn't playing much defense in my opinion. He was a real non factor in the game, and I was also very disappointed in not seeing Cook after he was taken out in the 3rd. He's been playing well for us, and I'd rather see him getting time in the 4th than Slava. George didn't shoot the ball perticularly well, but he was effective for us. I can't wait until we get Karl back... its like we were a whole other team when we had him. This game entertained me, but I didn't like a lot of it. I was disappointed Phil didn't call that timeout with 9 seconds to go in the game also.. If we have two full time outs left just draw something up, I hate that "let the players work it out" bullshit. Get up and do some coaching.</div>

Fisher was left in too long, Payton started off the game nice, and fell out of his rythem. I would have liked to see Russell or Fox rather than George in that 4th quarter. Kobe played a bad game yes, but he wasn't different than any other Laker. George and Fisher both had bad shot selections as well. As bad as it looked, Kobe in a way again kept us in this game. After all, he did make the clutch baskets and the tough shots, without him we would have been no where close to winning this one. I would have also liked to see Rush more a lot in that game. The lineup through the 3rd/4th should have went something like this...

    PG - Payton/Fisher
    SG - Kobe/Rush
    SF - Russell-Rush
    PF - Walton/Grant
    C - Shaq

Though Cook made some nice defensive plays, he's too unexperianced to be in an intese game at the end like this. He took way too many shots that he shouldn't have took, early in the shot clock. Grant would have played smarter and gives them more experiance, not to mention Walton should have played more simply because of his passing ability's. Rush could have also made more of an impact if he had more time, he's a shooter and I felt he would have helped us offensively down the stretch of the game. And Russell is just a smarter player than George, that's why I think he should have been there. Fisher, I'm not even going to talk about him. Point is, at the end of the day, should have gave the ball to the Big Fella.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ANiMuS:</div><div class="quote_post">PNG it was the 1st half where he was making over half his shots. In the second half he started bricking forced shots left and right (1-10 at some point). Kobe needs to not try to ride the momentum when there's nothing to ride.</div>

Yeah, I know he had a better 1st half, but I was just mad at the fact he wasn't finishing on those left handed layups, and banks that he said "he has down." What's wrong with pulling up for the jumper? No need to get cute with it. I felt his shot selection in the 2nd half wasn't too bad until the end, he tried to hard to take over. A lot of his attempts in the 2nd half were easy layups in the lane, that he missed.

Damn, it was a good game, much like a playoff game, but I am so disgusted and sick to my stomach after this loss, and I point at no one other than Kobe Bryant. Kobe had another excellent game in which he scored 35 points. But on a lot of the Laker possessions, he just tried to do too much on his own, and he put basically everything on his shoulders. How many times did Shaq touch the ball in the 4th quarter? Not even 10 times. You would think Kobe has the mindset of getting the ball to the Big Fella, and allow him to dominate on Divac in the final quarter. But no, Kobe just ignores Shaq and wants to be the hero. And that was disgusting to watch.

Anybody look at Gary's performance. Wasn't it strange how he just took himself out of the offense? He just stood around and didn't take many shots at all. He looked like he just ran around and watched Kobe do everything on the floor. 4/10 from the floor...8 pts. I don't know which Gary that person is, but it was clearly an imposter. Finally, I want to point out, the Lakers have to learn how to defend the pick and roll better. Because year after year, the Kings use this strategy on the Lakers, and Bibby always kills them in the end. It happened to Fisher, and now it has happened again to Gary. Whenever Bibby comes off the screen, and Divac sets the pick, Bibby 90% of the time will drain that shot. So when these two teams meet for the final two games of the series and into the playoffs, (if we do meet) I'd expect Phil to draw out better gameplans.

It was a good game, but you'd never see me give credit to that team.

Im so upset, It was pretty late in Chicago and I feel asleep but taped it but I think I must've pressed the stop button on the remote when I was sleeping so I only got like the first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter... I'm upset especially since the Kings won... by only 2! I wish they replayed NBA games.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_Fever_834:</div><div class="quote_post">How can you be a Kings fan when you're also a Bulls fan living in Chicago? Please elaborate for me.</div>

Why do you think people in Chicago are Lakers fans? From what I noticed, many people here like the Kings. So basically, I'm a bulls fan becasue I live in Chicago and I'm a Kings fan becasue they are a good team that can actually win... unlike the Bulls. I guess I just chose the Kings because I don't like the Lakers and I felt bad for them ever since the conference finals two years ago.

The Lakers should have listened to your first Key to the game. The Kings were allowed to shoot wide open 3pts all night. Allowing 12 for 24 shooting from behind the arc is ridiculous. For some reason the Lakers didn't have any intensity even though this game had a lot of importance. After this loss we are 6 games back and have dropped to the 5th seed behind Dallas. It was a good game, but the Lakers were completely flat in the second half and didn't deserve to win this game.

What if the Lakers are doing this purposely and then when playoof time comes, they'll surprise the Kings with some new hidden talent the Kings didn't prepare for... I mean I do this at times to psych people out.

Yeah, I think they lost last nights game on purpose. [IMG]

Nah, seriously though, if these 2 teams meet in the playoffs, I expect Phil to draw new gameplans, and find other ways to beat this team, no worries.

And believe it or not, I'm still bitter about this loss. Haven't regrouped from it yet.

It was a disappointing game, especially considering that the Kings did not have Webber, Miller, or Bobby Jax. That should have and would have been a win for the Lakers--it was just one of those nights. ARGH!!! Pick it back up Lakers, and crush the Queens next time!

    I cry.

The next meeting I believe will be in the Western Conference finals...[IMG]

Nah, March 24th, and April 11th. I wouldn't be suprised if I ended up at one of those games myself.

Also, why would you be dissapointed they only won by 2? My gut feeling is that if the Lakers made the right decisions they would have won this game, take the win and be happy. I would sure take it.

Thanks. I said "by only 2" becasue that meant it was a good, close game. I like close games. I don't find it as intense if a team is winning by 20+ points the whole time. I think winning by 2 shows that the game was determined by clutch shots, which it was. I'm so disappointed that I recorded it wrong.

I still cant believe how badly we suck at defending the pick n roll after all these years. We had this problem since back in the 90's when the jazz constantly picked us apart with it, and still no improvement whatsoever. Thats all I saw last night in this game. Pick and roll, bibby and peja draining 3's all night. Kobe refused to pass the ball. We missed god knows how many layups. Shaq wasnt getting any touches. Its no wonder we came away with the L.

I'd like to add that in addition to just poor shot selection, Kobe was also doing all sorts of stupid shit reminiscent of the '03 Western Conference SemiFinals. Examples include but were not limited to: trying to go coast-to-coast while outnumbered; posting up when Shaq had already established position; playing off his man too damn much; and leaping into a defender who didn't even leave the ground in an attempt to draw a foul following a series of unsuccessful pumpfakes. I'd like to point out that a key difference between Mike trying his hardest and Kobe trying his hardest is that when the former did it, you knew that at that moment, no one on the planet was better than him; when the latter does it, you wonder when Cuttino Mobley put on a Lakers jersey.

I was wrong about the outcome but I'm still right on one note; this game didn't matter. The real battle is in the playoffs. Ya, its embarassing for the Lakers to loose on TNT to the depleted Kings. Don't feel so bad about this one...

Of course, maybe I'm wrong. Two teams can generate such a reaction even in mid-season with a handful of great players on the bench... Enjoy.

Don't worry guys, the Lakers just made mistakes and they always learn from them come playoff time. They play great under pressure which is why they always seem to come through when it counts. That's why my teams always lose =(

Hope its gonna be better next time with a more experienced bench and more luck and more defense round Peja and Co.
